SEBASTIAN WILD
You can tell when an experienced DJ such as Sebastian Wild steps behind the decks; the atmosphere changes, they instantly command a confidence over the crowd and you can almost feel hundreds of past gigs seeping out their skin. At only 21, Sebastian is no stranger to dance music or DJing. His wealth of experience now spans across seven years, many genres, hundreds of events, multiple residencies and a whole country, New Zealand. Not only does he play with confidence of the past, but also enthusiasm for the future. Unlike many DJ’s, Sebastian raises the bar on both a technical and performance level, creating a stage show second to none that must be seen to be believed and leaves audiences everywhere astounded. Sebastian’s steady rise to success in his hometown Christchurch started with a residency at an all-age club night at only fifteen. Soon after he launched his own brand Nitrate with best friend, Chris Scott (Crisis). In the five years following, the two have used Nitrate to play to sell-out audiences in Christchurch’s largest venues, not to mention a nationwide tour when they were only sixteen. Before he even turned eighteen, Sebastian was offered a residency at Nrgize, the South Islands leading dance brand. Fast-forward to the present, Sebastian now holds a multitude of residencies across many brands and clubs, not to mention regularly playing at various other major events across the country.
His sound is unique, with a CD wallet full of tunes to pack the most demanding of dance floors with everything from progressive and electro to breaks, trance and techno. Not only is he in high demand for his diverse range of music, technically he is one of New Zealand’s best. Frequently playing decks’n’efx sets on up-to four CDJs and the Pioneer EFX1000 alongside the DJM800 to create diverse performances, incorporating everything from scratching and feedback looping to filtering and hot cueing. Coupled together with his abundance of energy and visible enthusiasm for dance music Sebastian creates a unique show that makes crowds go wild, setting a new level of entertainment unparalleled by the majority of other DJs. Sebastian’s winning formula also saw him take first place in the house and trance category at the Christchurch 2008 decknology awards. Also in 2008 Sebastian launched a new brand Global with Chris and took over running of the internationally renowned Fevah brand in Christchurch. 2009 has already seen him become a shareholder in Pulzar FM, a new dance music station broadcasting Canterbury-wide. You can catch his show “Wild Weekender”, every Saturday night on Pulzar from 8pm – 10pm catching the peak of the city’s busy nightlife before they head out for the night. Recently Sebastian has also completed a collaboration called “Ghetto-Tech” with Crisis due for release on Southern Cross Music. With an entrepreneurial spirit and a constant ambition to succeed Sebastian is defiantly one to watch in the coming years,
not just nationally but globally. Check out his web portal www.sebastianwild.com for further information and latest updates.
