breakup etiquette

What are your opinions on sleeping with someone else, right after a breakup? Having been on the receiving end of a 9 month relationship that ended, only to find out my ex slept with someone the very next night I have a sore spot for the topic. I dont care if it's rationalised as, "finalising the breakup", that's crap. To me if your ex-partner disrespects you enough to sleep with someone else right away they weren't worth it in the first place.

i say as long as its not with a mate of your's its ok... but im a cold hearted barstad so dont go by what i say ;P hehe

na honestly i think there should be atleast a 3 week stand down time... ya never know ya might get back together..

That sux...there needs to be some sort of respect for one another to know not to do that.

obviously the reason for her breaking up with u was so she could see this other person, so aslong as she wasn't sleeping with them before she broke up with u, i cant see a problem.

3 weeks after we broke up. 4 years 4 months relationship! but yea....i regret it. stupid move which hurt her quite a bit. Yea there should be a substantial amount of time after u break it off.

cartman, it obviously hasnt happened to you cause you would see differently if the girl you were in love with slept with someone else, a mere 24 hours after it was over. It feels like something similar to your wife saying to you, "hunny I can't be with you anymore", then runs across to your neighbours and shags him.

Time's definitely a healer. In a few months you should (I hope) feel HEAPS better ObrienBoy and ready to start dating again! Just got myself free from a non-productive 6 year on-again, off-again relationship and I'm now optimistic again - woo hoo!

Usually you can tell it's me cos I'm wearing cyber stuff but I don't know what I'm gonna wear tonight. Doesn't feel like much of a fluro day to me. scooby - i agree about never knowing when you could get back together. I was speaking to my boyfriend and said we should always make sure if we broke up in a fit of rage we shouldnt sleep with anybody else for at least two weeks in case once things had settled down we wanted to get bcak together. he said he couldn't guarantee he wouldnt sleep with someone in that time frame. nice to know
