thye did well to force Ricky to bring Symonds on, and it looks like its getting quite nice to bat on as it dries, this next session will decide the flow of the match imo.
Im going to give them these two sessions. If we can bat through that and get a slight leed then I will be very happy. Perhaps a little rain tonight get some moisture back into the pitch and try to roll Aus ... Sunday/Monday is set for some hot sunshine making conditions for NZ to bat and chase down something like 200-250 good
You guys might complain about Healy's comments about the Aussies having a lead, but unless someone (Vetorri) gets a decent innings Aussie are going to have a fist innings lead.
can't say i would've ever guessed the score would be what it is after 2 days, even in the conditions.
I think we could be in with a sniff getting anything around 250. Much more than that at it's getting pretty unlikely... Aus still massive favourites to win this
Taylor and Flynn looking good at the moment though. I just wish we were maybe 2 down rather than 4 ...and I wish we could find some openers that could see off the new ball. This pitch looks good for batting when the ball gets a bit older and stops moving around off the seam.
And Australia can get fucked with their permanently slow over rate that means they always go over time and the batsmen have to deal with shadows going across the pitch.
Have they ever managed to meet the overrate requirements in the past couple of years?

Weren't the commentators having a whinge about the batsmen not following etiquette by not being ready when the bowler was ready to go? I guess they can get fucked too.
I think we have the team to do it, just lacking a shitload of experience, I think we would of won teh game with a Stephan Fleming or Nathan Astle in the team.
We bowled very well, just lacked direction with batting.
Elliot to be dropped though IMO. And maybe Patel in for O'Brien(although it's more likely to be Southee unfortunately) on a turning Adelaide pitch.

Fuck knows why Elliot and Redmond ar ein this team.. They are absolute shit. Use someone who is going to be of use to this team in the future for fucks sake
Oh and Flynn needs to go up the order imo. We need a grafter at the top of the order, someone who can hang around for a long time and he has a great technique for hanging in there.
We do, it would be good for our left-right combos too....but the problem is McCullum is pulling rank and insists he bats at 5. And as arguably NZ's most talented batsman he has a case, problem is at the moment our top order is so brittle he is entering the fray far too early
IMO There isnt enough media talk of Cumming getting another shot, hes a limpet at times. Id rather have him than Bell who I think is flakey
I think this'll be Redmond's last test (if he doesn't get dropped already, but I wouldn't want to see Fulton open). Give someone new a chance for the home series.
Too much hating on Redmond Mutant..... I think he is worth playing a bit longer, 2 good knocks.... one pretty much saving us from losing to Bangledesh. I cant think who can replace him anyway Bell and Papps pile on the runs domestically but are too flakey at this level
Cumming would be my only other pick and he survives on grit alone. Its not like opening the batting at test level is easy
Getting out to the sort of shot he did today off the second ball of the day is just inexcusable.. i'd rather he prodded around for 20-30 balls and nicked out.... he's clearly not a test level player, and most likely never will be... I think we should give someone else a go, there are a few guys around who might do well at Test level (or might not, be we'll never know till we try)..
Having said that, I doubt he'll actually be dropped for the windies. That will definitely be his last chance, because I can't imagine they'll have much of an attack to threaten us
great way to farewell Bracewell. Completely capitulating in the second innings. He probably asked the players to bat to lose. We're playing like fucking schoolgirls.
