I used to have an altezza and am pretty set on getting another one but what are your thoughts of this subaru b4 I saw on trademe?

It doesnt come with the 19's on, its tiptronic and its done 145 km's
comes with:
- Big bore muffler
- tints 35% (legal)
- Bilstein shocks
- clear side indicators
- cambelt replaced
- auto transmission serviced
- Dynotron alarm/immobiliser
- 17" GTB rims

She asking $10500 for it but I know I could get her to 10k pretty easily, whats your thoughts on this car vs an rs200 manual rwd altezza?

Very nice looking car, but unless you are willing to spend some money on that motor in the next 10-15K stay away from it Smile take my word for it.

Your other option = RWD = winner Very Happy

auto = no sale.
RWD and manual is the only way to go. (ok maybe 4wd but def manual) Car

yea, ive never owned an auto or a car above 110kms and am pretty fixed on an altezza.
Im just gonna find it hard to say no at that price, looking through the dealers they are around 18-20k

If forced to choose between those two, I would definitely go for the altezza because it's RWD and manual, plus I don't really see the need to go that fast all the time - it's something I'll wait 'til I can do properly, rather than taking a punt on a 4WD car with an auto that's done 145k. Surely the transmission is on its last legs? With that many kms it's bound to be pretty cheap - have you seen any at dealers with that many kms?

I agree with everyone, the suby has done a lot of k's and yea it looks nice but not 10k nice.. with it being auto there is not a lot you can do with it .. modification wise.. I would stick with the manual if I were you.

I have a small gripe.. I have a 94 Honda Integra I have done it up with tints chrome bsa mags and lowered it it's very unique it's auto and definitely not a quick car just a good looking run around.. I have been trying to sell it for ages and no geniune bites.. Anyhoo my question is .. what attracts buyers?

The auto subies are only 191kw and not 205, so not as quick, also they tend to only put out around the 150kw mark at the wheels. IF you want a quicker car then stay away from the subie, not responsive enough IMO.

Altezzas are great cruisers specially the RS200's, not at all quick but thats not really why you would buy one. If you have good amount of $$ then a turbo Altezza is good fun Wink

lol, I had an rs200 a year or two ago with a straight through exhaust and hks filter, wasn't extremely fast but was still fast enough to have a bit of fun and get the back wheels going.
Being youngish-21 the price of insurance on a turbo altezza would probably not be the best for me, when I was 18 at one point I was paying $3600 a year until i changed insurance companies

What does a manual RS200 go for these days?

Tell me about it, I'm not even bothering to go down the turbo route until I'm over 25, stick to my NA hondas for now.

If you have upto $20k to spend, look at a 98-2000 Honda Accord Euro R
2.2l 220hp all recaro interior, and with a few I/H/E mods they can be pretty quick - low 14s quarter mile pass

To be honest Im not really too fussed if it runs an 11second quater or a 15, as long as it has enough to have a bit of fun im happy as given my past driving habits I wouldnt keep my licence very long lol
Im more probably interested in the shape of the car, im not really a fan of the accord euro r but they quite a fast na car.
