Elite force has been busting out a shit load of remixes of big dubstep tunes. stuff from bar 9, excision, datsik etc. he's doing a fucking good job of it too.

4th tune in is chasing shadows - amirah. MONSTER! also the remix of nero's remix of mj cole - sincere is off the chain.

when listening remember this was live at burning man. mad outdoor festival tunes. gives me goosebumps blower

ahh right was thinking it was quite cut up / funky.. live at burning man makes a lot of sense Smile

Enjoyable enough mix, but I *really* wouldn't go that far. All the good parts are pretty far removed from "breaks".
[quote]
Breaks isn't back it was just never out for EF. He's been pushing his sound hard since day one which has never been strictly Breaks anyway.

I'm not a huge fan of all his work but he's quite the innovator and has been getting huge respect lately for his mashing of the Breaks and Dubstep genres with a healthy dose of Electro on the side.

There are plenty of other producers making stuff just as good as EF and there has been for quite some time.

have you been listening to the quality of some of the breaks thats being released at the moment?

most of this mix isnt that far removed from 'breaks' bro. you are Razz

elite force was always on a techno/electro tip but the fact that he hasn't sold out completely like aquasky and meat katie etc which is encouraging. if the tech funk thing can consistantly bust out mad decent tunes again and all the progressive breaks thats coming from people like mesmer/beta/retroid and then all the psy breaks stuff thats coming from hedflux and beatman & ludmilla and then theres the kinda in the middle tunes from andrey mute and jellyfish/access denied/agressiveness/

trust me. breaks is def back. might just take a while to hit nz.

im glad its starting to get past all the anthemy stanton warriors/deekline shit and back to something with a little more edge and originality.

i never said it was out for elite force Confused but breaks def hit a wall for a while there. thats why i started playing dubstep in the first place. breaks all started sounding the same. it was all that electro house 4/4 shit. it just got boring. there were a few producers who toughed it out and kept doing their thing while everyone else sold out.

read the above post dude Smile

Oh the ironing! Laughing

I fucking love this mix, just went on a walk so I could listen to it uninterrupted Smile

It has been soooo long since I heard a decent breaks mix - beginning was shit though, bit screechy horrible, then at like 10.50 or something it started being all bom bom bombom. You know.

yay!

Who's to say though if something has really gone bad or if you're just not feeling the latest incarnation of the genre.

I personally got well over dem Breaks for a while but that was just because I was listening to way too much of the stuff and its never been top of my list anyway.

But I have bought the odd killer electro breaks tune over the last year or two so I know there has been some good producing happening for a while now and I suspect it was all there if you dug deep enough.

trust me dude it got a bit hairy there for a while. the couple of good tunes you got were probably the only decent ones heh. i have been digging man believe me. thats what i do. there has been good stuff coming out but it has been average as fuck as a whole.

specimen a has been solid the whole time. so have ctrl z, pryamid (which is half of ctrl z anyways). there has been a few others but its only really been in the last 6 months a shitload of good stuff has been coming out again. and there is heaps and heaps and heaps of good stuff lined up ready to drop. and thats just the stuff i know about.
[quote]
Yeah they are some of the guys making the good stuff right now for sure. There's also Eshericks, Vandal and Lee Coombs doing some good stuff. There's still a couple of solid breaks crews here in Melbourne that put on some good parties I think.

Well for the first time in about 2 and a half years I have to agree that what you have posted is pretty decent apex. Agree with that Amirah track too - v.nice. Also whatever is at around 38 mins

Cons - the bleepy start and the dubstep breakdowns eg. 27mins. Understand that prob comes standard nowadays though

47 minutes also - awesome

hasn't lee coombes only had like 2 or 3 releases this year? gotta agree though. they are 3 good producers. never been a massive fan of vandal but he makes big tunes.

i was talking about the melbourne scene when i was with karl sav in brisbane last week. he said its gotta be either perth or melbourne for breaks in aus.

anyways, my point is there is a shitload more good breaks coming out now and its because there's a new generation of producers coming through. its the end of the stantons/deekline/fee stylers era man. its gone more 'underground' again. theres more depth again. prog breaks, psy breaks and tech funk is where its at man you watch Smile
