Big Bucks Bet On NRL Grand Final

Bookmakers say the match between the Warriors and the Roosters is likely to be the second biggest single sporting event since sports betting was introduced in 1996.

League bookie Kevin Gutschlag says, while kiwi punters have been fairly conservative, the Aussies have been betting big.

He says one man has put $137,000 on the Roosters while another has bet $70,000 on the Aussie team.

However, Mr Gutschlag says it is unlikely the event will come close to the record-setting David Tua fight of 2000, with bets of $2.6 million
