Who are the best recuitment companies / consultants in the UK?

What sort of experiences have people had with finding work through these people?

I found Manpower excellent....plus they have got heaps of benefits of going with them. You get like a privilege card to use for things like discounted flights/discounted gym memberships/cheaper entry into touristy stuff etc. I've found them pretty good.

It really depends on what kind of work you do as a lot of agencies here specialise in recruiting for certain fields. www.manpower.co.uk

Best site for jobs by far is www.gojobsite.co.uk

try a company called hayes recruitment, both me and my GF both got jobs with them, and they helped me out with my NI number and all that as well..!!

There are far too many recruitment companies to name over here. It is bllody competitive.

I found www.reed.co.uk and www.thegumtree.co.uk the best of the lot. Also recruit magazine.

They are awesome, I used them in Manchester but they have offices all over, I think the most in London.

Definately open your UK bank account 'before' you leave NZ. This way you can use a NZ utility bill to open it (an HSBC account through HSBC or Thomas Cook or ASB). If you get to the UK and want to open an account you will need a UK utility bill... its a vicious cycle, you need a bank a/c to get a job, but you need a job to get into a flat (to get your name on a utility). You can also open Lloyds TSB accounts through The National Bank, but not sure how much longer this service will last .

The easiest bank a/c I found was through Thomas Cook, opening an HSBC account and I worked for The National Bank at the time!

Also HSBC is probably one of the better UK banks, good ATM's and fees etc.

DEF go HSBC..!!!! allthe other banks here are shite..!! i had and cancelled 3 different accounts before i was smart enough to go with the HSBC..!!

HSBC and NatWest are the best. You may as well shoot yourself now if you go with Lloyds. They are C-R-A-P...even 1st contact has stopped recommending them because they were getting too many complaints.

And...yes...definately set up the account before you get here. At least 3 months before I'd say.

hey babe! How u been? Wanna catch up after work tomorrow or the next day? Music

i agree setting up your account before you arrive is a good idea..!! at least three months before you arrive..and they give you a switch card straight away... Very Happy i would have seriously starved without my switch acouple of times..!!

Cheers for that guys..... Richy and I went over to Thomas Cook in Wellington a while ago to find out what we need to do, in order to set up a bank account from NZ.
They required 1500 pounds (which seemed reasonable) and recommended HSBC...... I guess that just backs up what you guys have just said..

Awwwww I cant wait to get over there! Not far away now.... Will be there in March.....

Is there much build up over there for the World Cup Semi Finals this weekend?
