Ok guys ... I am out to buy a new Mobile phone ...
What is prob the best one to get

Telecom
Vodafone ...

And what Type of phone ....

And anything within the 500 to 700 mark ...
No idea what one to get

I don't know the best phone but the phone I like is the Nokia 6230. It's new so you'll be looking at around about $1000 retail.

I use a 6100.

I bought a second hand one for $75 coz I just want to talk and txt
I already got digicam and dont think most phones battery life is up to being a useful mp3 player yet.

Nokia 6100

I have a Sony Ericsson T68i, and it has certainly served me well... I dont really like the new Sony Ericsson's but just cause of their shape and stuff...

My next phnne will most likely be a Nokia, mostly just for features... Bluetooth, pxt, ringtones and stuff

I can see how you'd get that from the pic - got have a look at one in real life though, or look at the dimensions. The phone is tiny.

I was looking at the Z600 but it's quite bulky.

I got the Sony Ericsson T630 (improved T610) which is pretty cool.
Paralell import but should be available through Vodafone soon, probably around the $650 mark I'd say.

I hate Nokias.

6100 is nice and small but i think the 6610 is a better phone...

you can pick up a 7250i pretty cheap these days and u get a camera.

T630 will be $699 through most Vodafone retail outlets

6230 Will be available within the next 2 weeks.. price pending...

I like the T630, they've updated the menu from the T610 and it looks a SHITLOAD better... will be available in black as well as white

I scored a mint Motorola E365 phone off trademe.

Granted its 2nd hand but they are cool phones.
1.2 mega pixel camera, 2 mb memory, 65,000 colour screen, polyphonic ring tones,can use PXT etc etc.

they go for about $300..

Motorola are notorious for service issues One reason why they aren't a big brand in NZ

Where do you work to know these kinda details all the time?

although i believe that vodafone is the superior service provider by far, i believe that the stories people tell you about parallel imported goods are a little false, and that you can pick up a phone from an importer at a drastically reduced price, for little to no risk.

my current phone is a one from overseas, as are several of my friends phones... and i'm getting a new one from overseas too...

if you pop your head in to a parallel importer you'll see that you can pick up a 7250i for $600 or less... i think i even saw one advertised for $520 theo other week. your only risk is that they aren't under warranty... but if you're will to take that risk then a parallel importer is definitely the way to go...

it seems that even first mobile (a registered vodafone dealer) is up to $150 cheaper in most handsets than a vodafone retail store...

i think there is one important thing to note from this thread anyhow, and possibly the MOST important point... of the 35 or so posts i don't see anyone telling you how great the phones are on telecom... because, for all they'll tell you - they're rubbish!
