whats the best night club for each city in New Zealand ? Ive only been in Auckland nightclubs so i can only comment on them...

My votes go to the Staircase for layout and setup and also Fu Bar for its great selection of music.

Which ever clubs get mentioned here enough times over will be nominated for the biggie 2001 awards (best nightclub for each main region) so make sure you have your say.

Very Happy

Its a toss up in Wellington between Phoenix and Cumberland House for me. Phoenix for its atmosphere, when this place goes off it REALLY goes off!!! the aircon turned on cold as hell all night the place is still like a sauna at 6:30am. Cumberland house for its size and basicness as well as being able to have some of the best lighting I've seen in New Zealand.
[quote]
my vote is for Leftfield and the Immigrant Smile hehehe

NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!

for me i'd say Kiss/Bacios on sat nites(can that count as one vote or are they classed as 2 nite clubs??) Smile

Staircase for layout if thats a catagory Smile
[quote]
Bed, Jones, Staircase Smile
[quote]
best layout goes to the staircase
best interior has got to go to The Grand Circle I love stareing up at that ceiling!
can't really think who has the best atmosphere at the mo'.

For Wgtn: As well as Phoenix, you've got to give the Nine Complex a nomination. For one it's got Studio0, he NineBar and Sub9 so has a lot of flexibility. it's always damn cool when a big night is on and you can switch between the two areas. As well, they give the Welly Bass Frontiers crew a damn good showing. It is small in Sub9 I suppose, but it's still my clubbin' roots. Very Happy

Phoenix is the place for trance and hardhouse I suppose - the two venues kinda cater to diferent musical style in general.

Cumberland House isn't really a nightclub is it? I haven't been there yet (but fevah on Sat!) but I thought it was more of a 'venue', which is used at times.

Mikem: Are venues to be nominated too, or 'just' regularly opened clubs?
[quote]
Damn skippy, cos we all know its all about the bass forntiers in the house with the sweet dripping off the ceiling and the rider dropping another bassline! BO!
[quote]
Staircase has the best set-up. But I'd have to go Kiss for the best nightclub. Wink
[quote]
Hmm.. I like the Grand Circle but my vote has to go to Fu bar. Mainly for the fact they play lots of different styles, which are all good Smile
[quote]
Staircase definately for layout etc. Pity it only goes off when there is an event there. As far as atmosphere goes, I'd probably say bed (although the music isn't always the best), it has a great atmosphere - one of the friendliest places I've been to.
[quote]
Grand Circle nice, cosy and dark Smile
[quote]
For ch-ch..
Ministry for big parties and Heaven for the best vibe. Smile
[quote]
I like Fever and Grand Circle but the award goes to FU.
[quote]
My vote is also with Fu. Always good events on there, nice staff and great a sounding rig Smile
Also up there for me are Grand Circle and WBC.
[quote]
Phoenix in Welli, & I also like Vespa Lounge(not sure if this is classed as a nightclub though)

In Auckland probably Kiss or Jones
[quote]
definitely phoenix for wgtn and kiss for auckland
[quote]
Kiss should get the "worst design" for a club. Its just mental to have the toilets on the far side from the bar with the dancefloor in between. There is always a constant stream of people just walking back and forth across the dancefloor. Now Jones has a good layout for a similar sized club to Kiss. In through the door and the bar is straight ahead, dancefloor to the left, and couches and toilets to the right.

Auckland
Staircase for layout
Jones for a nice atmosphere and Bed for a dance
St. James for venue

Palmy North
The Lighthouse

[quote]
Palmerston North?

Unfortunately there is no where good for anything in Palmerston North.
[quote]
Auckland
bEd for atmosphere/music
Staircase for layout and events
[quote]
Go the Wanaka Kingsway!!! Ahhh ha!
[quote]
Beds pretty damn good!
[quote]
Bed is great if the vibe is up there, but it has'nt really been for a while....
as for set up.... Staircase is great as a party venue when it's full.....
Sinners is got hell-loud sounds
and i only went to Havana for the first time for wobble this saturday and i thought that was a nice lil venue.......

I'll just go where the music i like is playin tho.......
Kiss is sooooo much better than it was years ago when it was a dodgy hole down a hall-way
[quote]
The Supper club, for post clubbing patrons to wind down!! and met people from different clubs to broaden their mindsets!!
[quote]
Fu is the master.
[quote]
St James for big events
But for a club Jones or Bacios
[quote]
As everyone says, I reckon Staircase is the best club, if you're just looking at the physical reality of the club.
Fu is a great fucking place to spend a night, it's got some atmosphere. Also Jones, I love their booths, and it's got a good layout overall.
[quote]
must say - ellerslie for events. love that you can chill outside on the grass :o)
[quote]
Fu's the place for me.
Ya never get hasled from the boys on the door for wearing sneakers and jeans, come as you are how you are. They also support all the genres of music.

Fu's Ya Daddy!!!!!!!
[quote]
What about the bowler?

But maybe its already past its sell-by date...
[quote]
What happened to sinners

been out of the loop a bit i fink?

hehehe
[quote]
has to be the Staircase
[quote]
As a club have to go for Bed, Staircase has the best setup but clubwise seems a bit too big, for medium size parties it wins hands down. For large events got to go for St James (although only really ever been to the racecourses which suck)
[quote]
FU, staircase, and calibre
[quote]
Calibre is so the perfect place to go and groove after you've been out for a big night at St James ... actually calibre can be the best club all night long!
[quote]
icon :0.... nah jokes...i would have to say that kiss would have to be up there for the ones that i have been to as i have just start going to 18+clubs
[quote]
Bed for the cool vibe
Staircase for the layout

After this weekend we'll see how Crome stacks up against the rest of K'Rd
[quote]
Palmerston North - The Lighthouse, been open for 5 weeks or so, Palmerstons proper dance club, Harvestors and Uno too small and crap sound systems, we have a laser light show, 7000 watt sound system, video screen, large bar, definately has the potential for future events there (lagered tour etc)
If your not into the dance music and you want to pick up a skank for the night, go and visit the Fat Ladies Arms, they even have an upstairs dungeon there.
[quote]
like the others, staircase has the best layout, pity its too big for normal nights, and Bed and Bacios for nicest club Razz
[quote]
aucks: bed for atmosphere, staircase for setup, fu for international dj's

welli: studio 9 & sub 9 hands down
[quote]
wellington:
giznad, Studio Nine bites unless you like drum & bass.
If you want house/hardhouse then you wanna go to Phoenix and the Cumberlain House venue (owned by Phoenix as well).
[quote]
I like bed at the mo for atmosphere, jones is good for layout though.
[quote]
Dude, the Around the House regular events at Studio9 go off. Were you at Greg Churchill a few weeks back? Sub9 was packed out.

And the 2-step...!
[quote]
True House @ Studio Nine rocks, I did miss Churchill last visit but the Nice and Urlich gig has to be one of my favs of 2001
[quote]
and again Staircase for layout
Bed for atmosphere
