Best Club in Hammy?

What is it?

Seems Altitude is the most popular at the moment from what I've picked up on - is this correct?

Altitude prob at the mo, however it's a big place to fill, and often isn't very good without a few bodies.
Liquid Lounge is the best for your weekly dose of funk!!

The early days of Judder Bar IMO by far the best, set the scene in Hamilton, a very small amount of people every week there 4 the music, and the company, good times indeed(now closed)

agree with the size,it would probly be different if it was packed and crankin, but still not my thing,
i love the smallnes of the liquid lounge, gives a real comfortable feel.
sat nights have been crankin lately,pitty bout the rest, thurs and fri have generally been shockers lately but azza and jacob keepin it real on weds is always good, like last night

So, to be a little more positive - I really, really like Catalyst. Nice venue, cool bar, good people (pity those behind the bar are leaving...). Sound ain't as good as you'd like it downstairs, but oh well.

my picks would be Catalyst.. because they play DnB there of course.... and then liquid.... Altitude is not even a dance club anyways, even the management says that!
It more a venue for one off big gigs!...

Hopefully small changes in MF will bring a more mature crowd there. Im keen to have a go at the place... after putting a real PA in it.

IMO - Catalyst all the way, nothing else in Hamilton is really a "club" at all.


If MF is going to attract anyone it's going to need a lot more than small changes - that place is a dirty hole.

Catalyst all the way... it is truly a club, but I won't forget Liquid either!

Catalyst has to be the best club by far in Hamilton, pitty about the fact that its in a basement and gets too bloody hot dow there.
If you wanna chillout the loft is probably the place to go!!!
Liquid lounge for some good house and plus Berin and his lady to be (the owners) are awesome.
I try and stay away from Altitude, its not very friendly and its too boozy.
As for monkey feather, haven't they closed that place down yet!!

Downstairs at Catalyst can be a bit hot and dirty, unless you're in the mood for it. However, no-ones mentioned the upstairs... I think it deserves some recognition.
MF has new owners now doesnt it? are changes coming? it does have potential...to a degree.

yep the upstairs @ Catalyst is good to, i kinda put both together!

I hear there are some renovations for upstairs to make it more club like than bar and more room to dance.

Really making it a two story club..

comments like it's too big seem a little odd

only Big clubs can create a big atmosphere, you just need the lineup to fill it. The atmos what wicked in there for Lagered last year. Great DJ booth and top sound system.

Sorry Gee, Altitude isn't known by people in the true dance scene in hams as the place to go.. I know they don't agree with ya and I certainly don't!

However for the cheese that is played there majority of the time and the stuff you play it might go well with the 'ENTRY' level punters who don't know shiz about dance music or the scene & culture.

the sound their is actually shocking! It is a good system, but the celing is extremly high, the acoustics are shot, the system is too tinny sounding... I could go on but i dont want to hurt anyones feelings!...

But if something could be done with The Deck and Riverside lanes or even the apartments it would a great venue just the veiw alone.

There is no contest, unless you separate genres. its and arguement noone can win.

Altitude is a great venue when it is packed. Cant get that 'big room' '1200 hands in the air' feeling anywhere else in hammy.

the altitude soundsystem is shite

its highs are way too peircing at loud levels and the bass is wash of phooort

we had wrecked ears after one gig, and its was distorting to buggary

Great staff, Away from all the Munters, Sound system is pretty good
when its tuned right, Wikkid Atmosphere.

As for all this 1200 people hands in the air bollocks, all to their own.

You really cant beat an intimate crowd of 200 or so people being right there instead of 10 foot above them. I love playing at Catalyst especially when you get a good crowd that buys you drinks while your playing a long set.

Liquid is a nice little place, probably one of the better clubs in Hamilton next to Catalyst.

Leave MF, Altitude and The Outback to the "Munter" crew. They can have it.

True? what gig was that??? coz we get some shite djs etc that dont know how to use their tour gear properly.

Anyway, most people wouldnt know, or even give a shite of the sound quality (to an extent!)

... The mid high bins are not good for dance music, trying to squeeze all those highs through those 2 little horns is just asking for hearing damage.

But the subs are fine, if they are tuned right and some knob isnt compressing all the sound to them. Not to mention D&B or a certain Hardhouse dj over driving the channels... causing shite distortion.

Then again... Its great sound if you are really munted though!

u could be right, maybe the sound would be better if the sound was dispersed round the room more with more mid/highs bins, stead of pushing out so much from two, it only sound good (tho harsh as on the ears) in a small space of the room

and i was munted...and bad quality sound does equal hearing damage.

and maybe deaden the room to absorb the peircing highs reflecting all over the show

this has all been known for over a year... but apparantly it doesnt matter. In heinsight it wouldhave been better to cover the walls in material (that doesnt look like a tent) than with plaster.
The PA is made to fit the gap between bands and dance music, thus does neither extreemly well.
BUT, 4 way sound is great for dance music, but impossible in a room that size & shape. For example, the PA in Revert is an attempt at 4way sound, but is in the wrong shape room... thus no matter where you stand it will sound dostorted.

Anyway, i am hung over ... got too munted last night in Tauranga with my fellow munters. must go and blast that munter tinitus out of my ears with a good bought of karim, & nukleuz.
Roma in Tauranga 2nite (sunday) should bang, so C U over here!

yeah altitude is wicked if you like mixing with rugbyheads, girls in white pants and people who like dj sammy (and therefore are into dance music)

ive been to liquid quite a few times and whenever i go in there i get get the feeling everyones there to be seen than for the music

but thats just my opinion
