call benji a black cunt, and you deserve a punch in the face...
[quote]
blah blah both violence and racial taunting are unacceptable etc. Hopefully common sense prevails and Benji gets a slap with a wet bus ticket and learns to minimise being in spaces where morons reside. ie Fast Food joints in the early hours
[quote]
he was just on the street about 100 m up the road from the four seasons where he had been attending a black tie function with his mother, so it's not like the was out on the booze in kings cross or something...
[quote]
nice work on deleting my post you fucken cock smoker.

In more serious news .... can't see anything happening here surely. Its a fact that people go out of their way to look for trouble when they see someone like Benji in the streets. I'm pretty sure his clean record will count for a lot here. Just a shame he is the new face of NRL and then BOOM this happend.

From reports he wasn't even drinking at the event.

Oh ok...I read it was at a late night McDonalds/HJ. But yeah...he has a history (before this) of retaliating, which just invites more trouble.

The walk away brigade need to grow some balls.

Just read some cunt making a what would McCaw have done comparison.

FFS the holier than thou rugby cunts in our media. *facepalm*
[quote]
Read some article (in smh I think) a while back that argued pretty persuasively that this kinda stuff is *good* for the game. That people like the "bad boy" aspect of rugby league.

I think the writer was probably right -- there's no fkn way either the game or Benji Marshall will suffer from this in the long term at all Smile

Yeah, because an Australian's idea of what constitute a racial taunt is relevant.
[quote]
interesting story, because the police's summary of events is apparently completely different.

According to the police, a man yelled something when Benji had his back turned, and then Benji turned around and punched him. But the police are going to allege that he punched the wrong guy, that it was a case of mistaken identity.

According to this "friend's" account, the guy made a comment to Benji's face and Benji then punched him. No case of mistaken identity.

So now there are 3 stories circulating. Benji's, the Police's/Victim's, and now this "friend"

Darren Lockyer sucks anyway
[quote]
Good news for Benji, when prosecution witnesses contradict each other then judges tend to throw things out.
[quote]
It'll come down to he said/he said and get thrown out anyway.
[quote]
But nobody's disagreeing that Benji punched him while under no threat of physical harm himself.

Does it matter, in a court of law, what the insult was exactly?
[quote]
Can't believe the victim is pulling the "I'm not a racist - I've got heaps of black friends" card Laughing

I guess the only way to solve this in a court of law will be to undergo a thorough investigation into who is the better player - Darren Lockyear or Benji Marshall Monkey

Depends on whether Australia have removed provocation as a defence for assault charges as many other countries have done as PC has grown out of control.

the victim is pulling the "I'm not a racist, I AM BLACK MYSELF" card.

no, it doesn't

nor does it matter if he punched the wrong guy

it was still intentional force i.e. assault

the law really doesn't like the use of physical force (unless it's in self defence)

Well... That doesn't look good then. Hopefully the judge takes his good deeds and general good behavior into account when sentencing and doesnt try to make an example of him. He already does great work in the community, I'm sure he wouldn't mind doing some at the courts behest.

however unlike NZ, apparently provocation is available as a COMPLETE DEFENCE to assault-based charges in certain Australian States eg Queensland. but I don't think NSW. so he may be out of luck? or maybe his lawyers have advised him differently. who knows.

"I'm not in it for the fame... going to the police was the right thing to do"

Fuck off you tool. If you taunt someone after a few drinks outside a club you're owed a smack and you know it. Don't run to the cops when you come off second best ya fucking coward.

I hate people like that guy. With a passion.

I think that having dark skin doesn't excuse someone from calling another person a "black cunt" and definitely doesn't stop the victim of such a taunt from being offended. Still very douchey IMO.

That's on the assumption that he actually said those words of course.

Agreed. Indians are incredibly racist.
BTW pstu you're an idiot, taunting doesn't justify physical violence. It's because of people like you that you can't make eye contact with guys on the street/in clubs anymore because they see it as a challenge
[quote]
heh i had a flatmate who got smacked over by a mate of ma'a nonu's when he was being a bit of a smartass.

I don't know ... at certain clubs eye contact between males might be interpreted altogether differently Razz
[quote]
Nah it still means the same thing justhanging ie... "What you lookin at fagit?"

Razz

But yeah.....surely you can see how the two things are related pssssst? Your prevailing attitude to disagreement is one of ego fuelled confrontation and violence, and its kinda ugly
[quote]
and the other thing is

it's not inherently illegal to call someone names

but it is always illegal to punch someone
[quote]
yeah Ive hardened my view on this somewhat since it happened, theres appears to be doubts over what was said as well. I want Marshall to be made an example of now, "its ok to bash people if they call you names" is a terrible message to send
