Ben Simms and Umek's...

....mixing style really turns me on. They seam to be able to mix in and out of tracks every few seconds and still sound as tight as a virgins you know what!

anyway I am now considering buying a 3rd deck, and I'm told I would be better off investing in a CDJ1000 as opposed to investing in another trusty old technics 1200, but the thing is I don't play anything off CD simply because I don't have any material on CD. (I don't seam to get sent the latest CDR promo's from around the world like every one else seems to these days!)

So can anyone give me any advise...cdj1000 or another 1200. (remember my master plan is to one day be as good as Umek so I can give up my day job, travel around the world, score loads of chicks and be rich.

get another deck, then you also always ave a spare

you could always download and burn the latest tracks to cd. easy to find on the net. or borrow and burn other ppl's cd's, copy and burn your own records. the handy thing with cd's is you can lay out tonnes of loops per cd and use that as a third element. saves heaps of $$ and is almost as effective. its a shame that cdj's are not as fun to use as 1200's but still quite a good coprimise.
there are also other turntables rather than 1200's that are very cheap and suppossedly just as good. my advice would be to save the $$ that a 1200 demands and try something cheaper.

the other thing to consider is that it's all very well to have 3 turntables at home but I have noticed not to many clubs use a 3 deck set up..most clubs always seem to have 2 turntables and one cdj.

Fu has both I have seen, deck and cdj.

Just keep your ear to the ground and score the cheap deal on a 1200. My friend recently scored two mk2 1200's from an auction for 625 each.

use gramaphones, your skills will be much better in the long run .)

Yes Fu Bar does have 3 decks and a cdj, but i think that only cos an advocate of 3 deck mixing is in charge of the setup :O

I just noticed there is now a CDJ-800 which is very similar to the 1000 but its only about $1900 or thereabouts.
