BLACKALICIOUS
NZ Tour 2008
Blackalicous, one of global hip-hop's best loved crews are set to demolish NZ with their multi-dimensional live show. They bring guest MC Lateef the Truth Speaker incorporating a Hip-Hop, Rock and Funk weaponary.
What’s the point of keeping it real when alternate realities are so much more fun? New Zealand fans will be witness to the introduction of a new hip-hop super-group, the newly formed trio,
The Mighty Underdogs.
It’s this profound all-around sound that has helped them reach a far wider audience than the typical b-boy or Bohemian beat junkie.
Blackalicious burst onto the world stage and remained on a 10-year run as indie rap elite, they provided a roadmap for hundreds of underground artists to follow and have toured the globe, constantly headlining shows and joining the likes of Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Mary J. Blige, DJ Shadow, J5, The Roots, Public Enemy, and their Quannum homies.
Now then, with these three artists exhausted by hip-hop’s penchant for taking itself too damn seriously, they break all the rules and allow songs to be everything from violent to, gasp, silly and it’s a surprise that the three haven’t combined forces before as an offical unit. Call it par for the course, because with the Mighty Underdogs, one can only expect the unexpected.
Simply put this will be one of the most definitive events of the year as our world is one of hyper-reality where vacationing monsters have gunfights. Nothing’s harder than that.
Blackalicious presenting The Mighty Underdogs is a wild west romp where an entrance in a blaze of fueled glory would even put Muhammad Ali on the back foot.
Blackalicious will play and tear down limited capacity shows on the following dates:
Oct 9 – Auckland - Fu: with TBC
Oct 10 – Wellington - SFBH: with DJ Don Luchito
Oct 11 – Christchurch - The Civic: with DJ Baku ( Japan ) & Kid90
