Battles and Soundclashes

Help a brother out here, can anyone tell me the difference between a battle and a soundclash with maybe a definition of each?

At the moment after consulting with Sparkie we think a battle just involves 2 djs facing off, soundclashes for groups or crews..

Anyhow, any ideas, thoughts or answers?

a battle is more of a hip hop thing involving djs going head to head showcasing scratching skillz.
now the soundclash,an artform developed as early back as the late 1940s in jamaica when the soundsystems from around kingston would go head to head with their own giant home built speakers playing the hottest jazz and rnb from the U.S.
its basically the same now as it was back then but its all about dancehall these days(and big $$$).
lots of genres use the term soundclash these days, but a "real" clash involves two or more sounds (not always crews either,theres plenty of one man outfits out there) going head to head using only "specials" and dubplates.
now the "special" is an awesome thing indeed,its a tune cut just for your sound system with the mc dropping the name of your sound into the mix.these are waaayy expensive however,usually around US$1000 each,but without 'em ya carnt run a "proper" clash.
the are tonnes of other rules and etiqutte that relate to the soundclash that i could ramble on about forever but i won't cos it will take far to long.i think the dnb crews in "hinglan" run clashes against each other but these are only appropriations of the real deal jamaican dancehall clashes.(sorry for my bad spelling)

I quite like the ones where the beats are from american hip hop, but it is rapped over in a tougher jamaican style.... I've heard one of Eminem 'my name is' done in a dancehall style, any similar tracks you recommend?

there is so much orsum dancehall around at the moment i don't know were to start!

buying dancehall causes probs for sum due to the fact it pretty much all comes on dodgy jamaican pressed 7"s,but to the fanatics this part of the charm!
there is an absolute slew of hiphop remixs out there currently on pretty much every big hiphop instrumental from the last year, esp.timbalands stuff (get your freak on,one minute man ,ugly) and the violator tunes,each usualy having at least 5 different versions from diff dancehal artists.
the eminem one you'r talkin about is tiger ranks "party wit me",its avaliable on the 500% dynamite compilation.

yeah beatmerchants have those FIRE dancehall/hiphop mixes.

yeah yeah and i just bought that PARTY WIT ME breaks 12" in sydney. hella dope. got an earlier on with the jay z instru's over dancehall.

love the BABY CHAM. always good to have those accapella's to throw over the dnb or hiphop and they get the booty bumpin rump shakin action going on
