Only in America. It comes as no surprise that a Federal judge in USA can come up with a decision like this based on piss poor evidence or lack of.

quote:
"I conclude that the plaintiffs have shown, albeit barely, by evidence satisfactory to the court that Iraq provided material support to bin Laden and al-Qaeda," Judge Baer wrote.

Obviously there was no one to dispute the so called evidence.

So is this how they are planning to strip Iraq of it wealth, hey I wonder if they will seek compensation in the form of oil Confused
Surely if they could prove anything they would have to take it out of Saddams ASSets. (which belong to the people anyway).

otherwise the court would have to have called bush, colin powell and rumsfield liars... the chance of that happening is........

Seems like a pretty flawed process. I hope that Iraq has a chance to defend these allegations.

it's bullshit.

I sympathize with the families in losing a family member, but this is sick shit.

$104million won't bring them back.
Maybe they should donate the money to charity ie. relief work in Iraq to make it a better place?

I mean, what the fuck do you do with that much money?
It's totally excessive.

Is this exercise purely theoretical or is there some weight behind the effort to remunerate the victims from countries behind the suspected terrorists?

exactly - suspected terrorists.

Eight of the suposed hi-jackers are still alive.

Whoever was on the planes used stolen IDs - figures.

Yet, all these peeps are still on the FBI website.

LOL

I think its sick taking money from an impovrished country for your own benifit and with NO evidence supplied. Oh there are more court cases like this in the works, they want to take money from sudan etc.

Only a small portion would come from any siezed funds of saddams, and the question would be is it saddams or has it been stolen from iraq, in which case they would have to fight for it. The case basically means if they find and freeze some money of binladen they can claim against that instead of governments getting it.

Who is going to stop Americans from doing this? If they dont listen to a good proportion of the world, including the UN then I cant see htem changing their policy of ignoring everyone else.

The best hope is the American public will stop their government (well the current one at least) when they get the chance to vote next. As it seems there's not a lot else that works

As a nation NZ must put our faith and support behind the UN and lobby and express our position on issues such as Iraq as we have been.

If you believe in a higher being, of any sort, prayer is perhaps as practical solution to an individual as anything... short of terrorist activities.. Perhaps some aliens will come to save us from oursleves - but that means the anal probe Moon
