What the fuck?

James Hopes? Are you fucking Chris Harris in disguise?

Punter plays a fucking 2001-era-Punter shot (hard hands to a finger spinner)

Hussey is lol'zed out

Warner is a fucking wogger who got lucky.

Pathetic.

270 is just not enough with the batting power play (in most conditions)

270 isn't enough powerplay or no powerplay.

It doesn't matter where the fielders are if you're Albie Morkel. He just puts the balls in the stands...

He hit 1 6. And 6 4s. So, no, he doesn't.

Respect to Jacques Kallis who scored his 10 000th run yesterday.

Yet again nobody wants to discuss the technical points Sad Even when I deliberately raised them in a "playful" manner Sad

YOU PEOPLE ARE FUCKING PHILISTINES

What's to discuss? You summed it up pretty well there Vadz. Laughing

Australia is no longer unbeatable and the scent of blood is in the air. If you're expecting anyone else to share your sadness in this dying empire then you're going be disappointed. Most of us are too busy taking delight in it. Very Happy

I was more considering a discussion of Ponting's return to playing with hard hands against offspinners, Warner's lack of technique/timing, and M.Hussey's hilarious dismissal

And James Hopes blocking Duminy in the 42nd over.

lol. vadz knows a great deal about cricket, he's right... much more than most of us.

His problem/bizarre posts stem from th fact that cricket is acutally a simple game in a lot of ways, but ol' vadz overthinks everything with that big brain of his....and that big brain spazzes out as a result

remember.....old vadz was championing Millsey cause when his death bowling was causing nearly everyone else on here ..... (except me actually Froggy )...... was howling for him to return to club cricket Wink

I'd be a great technical analyst.

Why does Mitchell Johnson get the tonk sometimes? I'll tell you why... skiddy arm action + left arm over + 140kmh is about as perfect as you could get to tonk IF the ball isn't swinging or it's not particularly bouncy.

First, skiddy arm means it doesn't steeple. You can put the front foot down without too much fear.
Second, left arm over means the natural angle is already freeing up the right hander. He is giving you more and more room with every mm that ball goes down the bitch. Also, left arm over makes it more natural for a right hander to open the front hip, which improves the power available to the shot.
Third, 140kmh = comes off the bat HARD.

One thing that amazes me is that commentators never seem to notice that one of the key elements of economy for quick bowlers at least is height.

McGrath, Garner, Oram.

But it's not JUST height. Mills is a fairly tall guy but gets tonk late on because his action isn't particularly into the pitch.

So my perfect ODI bowler would be:

6'9"

135kmh

Chest on

Into the pitch

how about test bowler?

Right arm. About 6'1". Very side on at delivery. Outswing. 150kmh.

Which describes probably early-career Hadlee, Lillee, Larwood, Tyson, Younis etc...

Yep that's Glenn McGrath right there. Oram if he added another 10 kms/h to his pace, not that it's possible anymore. Sad

My pick would be Wasim Akram. Smile

Or Morne Morkel in a couple of years :>
[quote]
yeah well everyone told Jake early in his career he needed to strive for that extra pace and thats why he's fucked now. imo

Greatest swing bowler is yeah wasim or waqar...but dont forget those 2 were up to all manner of filthy ball tampering tricks before "balltampering" was even a word

Ingoring those 2 dubious c*nts ...Im inclined to promote the likes of Bedser/Hadlee/Alderman

F*ck off with your Morkels btw gummi..Id be pretty happy not to hear that name much over the next decade Froggy

An example of Wasim's brilliance. What a ball, from around the wicket too...

IMO no bowler these days matches these guys when it comes to swing bowling. Only player I would even consider as being close is probably Nathan Bracken. Shane Bond had a magnificent inswinger when he was at his best so he gets an honourable mention.

There was a tv news article about South African cricketers playing in the domestic comp who were keen to play for NZ and were playing out their residence qualifications. One was some young tearaway quick who played for Otago or something, looked really promising...

About time you ex pats gave back to the country that takes care of you. Razz

yeah. Instead of providing us with these enormously unco academic geeks like neil_armstrong Froggy

But seriously...Ive babbled on here for years about more fast bowling yayas..... and talented Indian bats .....into the NZ team. It will happen. I hope. Otherwise...whats the point of them? Confused Send them all back to their terribly flawed countries imo

Agree with the Warner call, he's horrible, and plays so far away from his body its not funny. This is what the crapola 20/20 era is going to throw up as good batsmen nowdays i guess Sad Quite like the looks of Marsh though.
Ponting - regressing, he's never been a good player of spin, and maybe his current lack of form has him delving back into the past searching for answers.
