lol. vadz knows a great deal about cricket, he's right... much more than most of us.
His problem/bizarre posts stem from th fact that cricket is acutally a simple game in a lot of ways, but ol' vadz overthinks everything with that big brain of his....and that big brain spazzes out as a result
I'd be a great technical analyst.
Why does Mitchell Johnson get the tonk sometimes? I'll tell you why... skiddy arm action + left arm over + 140kmh is about as perfect as you could get to tonk IF the ball isn't swinging or it's not particularly bouncy.
First, skiddy arm means it doesn't steeple. You can put the front foot down without too much fear.
Second, left arm over means the natural angle is already freeing up the right hander. He is giving you more and more room with every mm that ball goes down the bitch. Also, left arm over makes it more natural for a right hander to open the front hip, which improves the power available to the shot.
Third, 140kmh = comes off the bat HARD.
One thing that amazes me is that commentators never seem to notice that one of the key elements of economy for quick bowlers at least is height.
McGrath, Garner, Oram.
But it's not JUST height. Mills is a fairly tall guy but gets tonk late on because his action isn't particularly into the pitch.
