Aussies banned websites

I've just had a quick read of the list, from wikileaks...


some poor dentist in Queensland, his own business website is now banned. As is a boarding kennel.

so is www.fulltiltpoker.com, pokerstars.com . .

all the rest have names like lolitas and teen etc.

altho, I just saw that lemonparty is banned.

thin end of a wedge I reckon.

Nevertheless, censorship reflects a societys lack of confidence in itself, and I can't overstate just what a stupid idea the whole scheme is. Unfortunately, its another case of a small but vocal crowd of fundies, trying to legislate that which they don't understand, while sidelining free speech and trying to politicize the internet.

Its fucking disgusting, and I really hope it fails. Badly. I also hope it destroys Conroy's career as a politician.

If policing kiddy fiddlers online costs $100m and firewalling the country costs $80m I know which one i'd pick as the government![/i]
