Anyone doing the Auckland Quarter/Half/Full?

How's your training going?
[quote]
Doing the half and few others like PFunk is going to as well.

Training has been pretty good. Been doing heaps of strenght work over the last 5 weeks at the gym. Haven't been running much as I have a 12hr mountain bike ride this weekend so been on the cycle at the gym most days.

Back to it next week Smile

I'm doing the half, though I don't have a ticket and it's sold out Neutral

Training is now going fairly well. I'm doing a jog, a medium sized run with "up tempo" and a long run each week plus two sessions of squash and either another session of squash, a road cycle or another run.

I reduced my running to once a week during June, July and August while it was pouring non-stop and I found getting back into it pretty awful. Constant leg pain on shorter runs and not finding my stride until very late on longer runs. It is improving though.

I can prob hook you up with a ticket via Marshal dude!

My training was going really well but I've just started to get a bit sick of it. Doing an off-road XTerra race this weekend to keep me motivated - like a halfway goal. Hope it doesn't pour down on Sunday!!

Are you following the training guide from the website?

When you train, do you follow new routes to keep things interesting?

Last night's run was v.unpleasant for me Sad Not happy! I did 9.22km at a slower pace than I did 13km on Friday.

Def need to mix things up a tad to stop it from getting boring nat.

I also had a horrible run last night Sad 8km in just over 50min Neutral legs hurt, chest pain and overall felt like shit when I got home. No training today or tomorrow ...

As of next week I need to start looking at my diet ... urgh!

I got that 12hr mountain bike ride on Saterday though. Thought I better give the body a rest ...

Did you see the new last night in regards to the Marathon selling out so quickly? People buying tickets for more than $300 now ...

1hr 57min
Slower than I'd hoped but I enjoyed it and learned a bit for next time Smile

I saw your result in another thread somewhere, greenie. Well done! Very Happy

My original goal was sub 2hours, then three weeks earlier I did some damage to L3 and L4 discs and nearly had to pull out. Stuck it out, did all my physio exercises, loaded up on voltarin and re-adjusted my goal to 2.5hours. Ended up doing 2.07 so I was mega stoked. Such a cool experience, can't wait to enter some more events over the summer Very Happy

Nice work, nataliafleur. My path to glory was also not paved in gold.

About 4 weeks out I decided it was actually time to start training Cool Woke up the day after an ~15km run with the familiar feeling of damaged tendons in my foot. 12 days off... but I bounced back OK and put in a big effort for the remaining 2.5 weeks so it was all good Smile

Haha, who needs time to taper huh?! At least you pulled it off on the day. The weather was amazing, I just pulled back and enjoyed it.
