Auckland Central voters

Has anyone actually heard the election candidates speak? i.e. Kaye or Tizard?
Trying to work out who's any good...

Don't care about party politics here (that's for the other tick and overhangs aren't an issue with any of the electorate candidates parties), just the electorate representative

Tizard = personal experience, lots of political history in the family, incumbent since 96

Kaye = Worked as a researcher in Bill English's office for a bit and......that's about it?

however, Tizard was the "brains" behind the recent Copyright Act changes to force ISP's into terminating connections of repeat offenders. she has had a bit of a are with that one. i would like to not vote for her on principal, but i'm not voting for kaye or any of the other clowns.

The one reason I'd vote for Kaye is if she gave me a good response to "as a young up-n-comer in the party, how would you like to see National change over the next 5-10 years".
I'd really like young reform-types in the National Party to sort it the fuck out. I just have no idea if she's one of those types...

I heard Tizard megaphoning it the other day from a cavalcade of red cars and at first I thought it was the Helen herself, sounded very similar.

we havent had much discussion on strategic voting either... would've thought some peeps might have raised it as a discussion point

what is wrong with that - I assume you think a health minister should know how to do a triple heart bypass etc.

Tizard is alright in my books (for a politican)

I would expect one to have a grasp of public health policy at the very least

Affordable homes. For young families. In Auckland Central. Which includes some of the most expensive suburbs in the country like St Mary's Bay.

How about as a new MP, she concentrate on running her electorate first and foremost instead of looking towards loftier goals in the house?

As long as it doesnt mean tenement housing then i'm fine with that - housing affordability is actually a pretty big concern of her constituents Kris.

Well guess it's the same as the Govt as a whole - the talk ain't that bad, let's see how she actually plays out. If she's a new Katherine Rich and can actually survive in the new National Party then that's a good sign...

It would be less so if they either
1. Rented, or
2. Lived in a cheaper neighbourhood.

I may be left wing, but even I don't think the Government should be intervening in house prices (except in the case of state housing, which is a rather separate issue).

If you want the benefits of living central, you pay the cost.

Vadz: I'm just saying that it is a big issue for her constituents and as such, representing them means addressing that issue.

And I dont think you'll hear her sitting in a town hall saying "move to Onehunga"
