which thing? My blah in tech forum?
Well, Adobe Flash CS5 incorporated a new feature where you could compile Flash applications into native iPhone apps. So you could build the graphics in Flash, program in ActionScript and then download to an iPhone.
A couple of days before Adobe were to release CS5, Apple made a change to their developer agreement that prohibited 3rd party development tools - You had write your application in C, C++ or Objective-C (programming languages) and use Cocoa (the Apple UI).
Some people went apeshit at Apple for being so controlling while others were glad that potentially fucking awful apps were kept off the platform and Steve Jobs wrote an open letter saying Apple doesn't want some 3rd party (Adobe for example) turning iPhone into some generic piece of junk for compatibility purposes with say, Android (the "advantage" for developers with Adobe of course is their build once philosophy).
Fast forward, and 2 weeks ago Apple has changed it's tune but it's also published guidelines so developers have some idea what will get their app rejected (a sore point apparently).
This was written using Xcode (apples dev environment) in Objective-C (Apple's language of choice) and Cocoa-Touch. I'd just learn that shit if you wanna build apps it's a learning curve but far from impossible. Do it properly etc... though you need to own a mac.
Um, google has some ultra noob app builder for android, a point & click thingy, not sure what kind of power it gives you though if it's too simple. I *could* actually try it, got into some beta programme, not sure why I bothered really. It helps to have an android mobile.
ps, I think my current code is awful and the application leaks memory. But that's cos I don't know what I'm doing yet. It'll come.
