Athlon64

Right now ive had my current computers for coming up to 1 1/2 years and im lookin at upgrading. Ive been lookin at these new Athlon 64bit CPU's which says that it can run 32 bit OS and applications...now because my only software is 32bit i cant really run my 64bit WindowsXP which i have. Running it 32 bit do u think it will still run at high performance? With the fact it has an 800Mhz FSB and that they are Hyperthreading CPU's or should i just go for the barton core?

Read TomsHardware.com, and anandtech.com. I saw Anandtech.com the other day, and they said to hold off for the AMD chips (or was it intel) because they were changing to a new socket size.

yea thats the Athlon64, its socket 754. But there not expensive, they start from around $300, and the motherboards about $200-250. I was just wonderin if it was really worth gettin
