Argentina in the Tri-Nations?

I think this would make the competition far more interesting, for whatever reason the argies are my second favourite team (maybe because I follow them in the Soccer World cup...).

Hope it works out, although I think adding a pacific team in also would have really peaked my interest.

Nah not interested in having canon fodder (pasific island) team in the tri-nations. Happy for the Argies however ... they will being a little more excitement to the competition.

Well to be fair it was South Africa that came last in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Test matches in Argentina are a snoozefest. Not to mention the 5am kick off.

I'm sure that the last time we played Argentina at home (which btw was a sick game, and pretty close) it ended up being daytime viewing for us here in NZ

It wasn't a draw - we drew against them in 1985 (http://www.nzallblacks.net/stats-viewbycountry.asp?country=argentina).

The game in question in 2001 - we got an after-the-hooter try and conversion to win 24-20. As the site says we won by 6 points in our last game - but they really haven't challenged us at home. Of course, they don't usually get to play us at full strength.

I'm looking forward to this! Much better than the 3 game format currently employed.

I'm thinking 2006 where we only just held on at the end to a 25-19 win. Very tough playing them at home!

Actually I think I was being a bit harsh on the Argies. With a big forward pack of hard nosed steak eaters and a nice kicking game, they would probably beat the Wallabies.

Argies are seriously a good team. Their forward pack is world class, and their backs are right up there.

Only thing stopping them from really being a top 4 team is their players being spread across the world, mainly in the Heineken cup.

Inclusion into the new Quad Series could also help kick start a professional National League in Argentina, which would draw/keep more players at home. Also inclusion of a couple of teams into the Super Series would be a benefit as well.

They got 3rd at the last world cup for a reason...and I reckon in the next 5-10 years you will see them consistently beating the northern nations, and being competitive against SA, NZ and AU.

Isnt there a clause in their inclusion for the tri nations based on the fact that their best players are available for this? and that those players will be part of the Super 15 franchises?

No, the clause is about proving they can financially handle the competition, ie homeground, bring crowds (no doubts they will ever have issues with that, just like saffas).

Im pretty sure they have to have their best players available as well. I remember reading somewhere that in order to do that there are plans to have them play in the super 15 as the european clubs wont bwant to release them.

Regardless its a good thing and i hope it works and isnt just a empty sentiment
