I am and I miss it so much, I need to talk to some like minded individuals.....
The floor is yours...
[quote]
seek Timid, then you two can talk all about it together and not annoy the rest of the clubbing populous that ain\'t been to UK yet... seen? pfft

Man, im with you there, munky. Where did you hang out? Our haunts included the Fridge, Fevah, Frantic, The Dogstar, and the intrepid fox (after work drinks). Also the polar bear until it was closed.
What i miss the most is the fact that the place always felt so alive, with so many parties, dj\'s, and craziness, that sometimes it was abit to much (thank god for the close proximity of Europe)!

I love the old town......it felt like home for the 3 years I spent there....without doubt the easiest city to sift on in too and make friends.

Casual, fast...full of culture and immeasurable good times.

Munkyindenial.....it takes a while to adjust to being back in NZ....especially for those who loved that big ol\' town. It took me at least a year...but you get there eventually. Still hankering for the main floor of Turnmills though...goddamn I loved that club....and sifty Saturday avo\'s at The Westbourne!

Tall Paul at the Gallery was my favourite.. and Frantics for quite a while until I started getting a bit sick of hard house. I\'d be back in London right now if I could, but I used up my 2 year visa so now I\'m considering marrying someone with a Brit passport or ancestry visa! Even though it\'s sunny here I\'d rather be in the cold, coming out of a club at 6am on a Sunday morning with my winter coat on, shivering like hell and having to wait an hour and a half for the first tube!
[quote]
Never catch the tube after clubbing.....ARGGGGHHHHHHHHH!

I went for a week and yeah, felt just like home! From watching the odd British TV programme I thought I would hate the UK, but after going there I just knew it was where I had to live.

I plan to move there in April... I opened my UK bank a/c yesterday, am off to the Brit High Com. in a few weeks... its all go!

I cant remember where I went on the Friday night (it was excellent though), and Saturday night I went to TRADE where Tall Paul and Fergie were playing plus two other famous UK DJ\'s who I forget. That place kept going till 1pm Sunday afternoon... Easily the bEst night of my life!
[quote]
At TURNMILLS Club Boi.....what did you think of the club....I spent many an eve on that amazing dance floor....Awesome place!
[quote]
Trade\'s a gay night! Go to Turnmills on a Friday night for the Gallery.. check out www.turnmills.co.uk and go to the Clubs section then go to Listings to find out whats on over the next months. Only bad thing about Turnmills is towards like 5 or 6am when there\'s less people it\'s freezing in there, their air conditioning is cranked up so high when they turn the music off you can hear it roaring!
[quote]
Oh yeah, and the laser\'s SO wicked it\'ll cut you in half! Especially cos it\'s set so low and it comes down and you can put your hands through it.
[quote]
Yeah, I was pretty sure TRADE was gay from what I saw happen on the dance floor... BJ\'s from guys to guys etc! But there were also heaps of chicks there...

But Tall Paul and Fergie on the same night... and yes, very well air conditioned... hardly any smoke or heat... perfect...

I was initially meant to go on Friday (Turnmills???), but my cousin flew in from Dublin and made me go to this other place.

Ahhhhhhhh I sooooo need now!
[quote]
Turmills is the name of the venue and on Friday nights they have the Gallery and Saturday nights they have Trade. It\'s the same sorta story with all London clubs. Wicked!
[quote]
Rocking club...both The Gallery and Trade.....
[quote]
Man, even though Trade is gay, dont let that stop you. Im as straight as a ruler, but found some of the best nights to be gay nights. Those boys(?) nknow how to party, although i wouldnt recommend going to the campier clubs, but Trade and whatever the gay clubnight at the Astoria are pretty damn cool!
Another wicked place to check out is the Soundshaft. Venues pretty good (not up there with Turnmills), but some great clubnights are there (Farenheit, Fish, etc) if your into the hard beat!
[quote]
turnmills....as venue...without doubt 10/10.

Sheer Brilliance.

It ain\'t huge...which is great....but by jingo, the atmos is intoxicating.

And oh my god...those lasers.

go to www.residentadvisor.com.au for photos and reviews of the Gallery.

I was there for a short time recently.. like REALLY short. Didnt make it to Trade or Turnmils... (drove past down Clerkenwell road sigh).. But I did however go to Fabric around the cornerish.

I went to a DTPM night @ Fabric with Alan Thompson & Steve Thomas and it kicked ass. It didn\'t matter that it was a Sunday night, several thousand people turned out. DTPM is also a predominantly gay night but dont let that put you off if your straight cause it dont matter. About the worst thatll happen is you will have to politly refuse an offer your not interested in.

Oh, and how do you NOT catch the tube after clubbing??? haha.. its half the fun!! trying to squeeze in with the non-munted part of the population.. Travelling the tube home is like a private joke only you and your friends understand... (ok, we stood there giggling like madpeople).

Wheres FunkenNicely?!? Smile

Also went to Crash in Vauxhall for the Honey Pot CD launch nite and that also kicked ass. See the back of the latest honeypot vinyls for details.. I was there.. it kicked ass.. enough said.

dave....its all good the first couple of times...but by jingo it can test the patience after a few times.

A nice warm cab....watch London wake up as you cruise through town. And fares are never more than about 8 squid if you live somewhere reasonable.

I loved cruising through London twisted.....watching that great city yawn and stretch as the day began

Or stumbling out of Strawberry Sundae at 6am to discover the MI-5 building which you knew existed but never managed to find before!

Did you guys notice the large amount of NZ, Aussie and South African people in London? Shit I think I met more people from the Southern Hemisphere than I did from the Northern! I was chatting to this girl for ages and it turned out she was from Wellington. Typical. Walking down the road in Soho I bumped into a girl I used to go to school with.. Oh and I figured out what antipodes refers too also.. Slow I know.. but I\'m a science graduate!
[quote]
Phunky...there are a lot of us over there....but it all depends where you hang out.

Keep away from the Aussie/Kiwi/SA bars/clubs etc and there are plenty of other nationalities to meet (obviously). I sure as hell didn\'t travel 12 000 miles to hang out in enlarged (and infinately more obnoxious) versions of Leftfield.....

The Aussie/Kiwi Fevahs are maybe different...they were just starting up when I left but I still didn\'t go...was too interested in the MASSIVE VARIETY that london offers.

It don\'t sleep....
You are never bored (no time for that)
It is as cosmopolitan as any place on our fine planet
Everyone (race wise) seems to get along and indeed enrich eachothers lives...
You are constantly surrounded by amazing history and buildings that until you get there seem like part of legend.

I could go on.....

HOWEVER....I am AMAZINGLY glad that I am from NZ and was bought up here. Its funny when you talk to English people who have never dangled a fishing line, walked along an empty beach, walked through the bush...etc etc. It made my time in the UK all the more enjoyable knowing that places like ours exist.

i\'m here now...
trades not at turnmills anymore, but they have the gallery on friday pm, then headstart, metro groove etc etc on alternate saturdays..
i love turnmills..

& steve lawler is playing a 6 hr set there in a few weeks...... yippie...
cold doesn\'t matter london\'s cool.

Lila...envious. The music in London is amazing...always has been even since The Beatles and long before (but before my time).

One Gallery bill would sell out here in minutes and have tongues wagging for months.
