Hello

I had a personal training session this morning very early Razz

Whilst in the middle of training I almost blacked out, eyes went all dark etc..luckily it didnt resort to me fainting but really after that had to sit down for a fair bit.
Im thinking this happened for a few reasons:
1. I haven't done a training session like that for a good year after going though my cancer treatment, have been back at the gym but only doing spin classes a few times a week
2. I hadn't eaten anything
3. Maybe I was pushed to hard for my current level of fitness

Im now a bit put off from having another session as I really felt after almost blacking out this morning, like I had a hangover all day...

Any thoughts at all? I guess my situation is a little different due to illness, however I imagine people may experience the same type of thing after a long break from having the flu or something?

Thanks Cool

I should also add the trainer that did my session this morning suggested a few things as to why it happened, but I guess I always like to get a second opinion Smile

I'm not a PT, but this is my opinion. You're in the process of recovering from what is undoubtedly one of the toughest things the human body can be subjected to, much harder and physically destroying and demanding than any workout could ever be. Combined with a lack of food and doing it very early in the morning, it's not too surprising that your body couldn't handle it.

The PT should know better - I'd get an opinion from your qualified doctor rather than a personal trainer, who knows what his/her background is? Ease back into it - there's no rush. Smile

Food.

general low impact cardio on an empty tum is ok... but if I was doing high intensity workout in the morning...say, bootcamp, then i'd eat a couple of slices of vogels with jam about half an hour pre... otherwise id feel well nasty.

Yep, food and give your body enough time to get used to of the morning work out imo.

Yep you need to eat something beforehand - even just an apple if it is real early morning.

I have had this happen to me before because i hadn't eaten much all day, then my trainer smashed me.

And what heresy said - ease back into it Smile

i never eat anything before pre breakfast workouts. ie sessions beginning 8am or earlier. even 2.5 hour runs. doesn't seem to affect me.

Thank you Smile

I think I will have half a banana or some fruit prior to morning workouts. It never used to effect me, but I assume my body reacts much differently to things now.

Grrr hate starting "all over" again, but yes I agree I cant be a superstar again straight away. Need to listen to my body more I think.

if you have fruit, i'd just have a banana...other stuff might be a lil acidic and upset your tummy that early in morning.

Hunny you need to eat something before, especially after everything you have been through, your body needs the best nutrition it can get!!

If you want me to do your diet for ya im more than happy to, since im prepping for my comp etc i cant do much else but eat, sleep and train hahahahah or and FAR to much cardio for my liking!! but hey it will all pay off when im standing on stage showing off my 6 pack mwhahahahahah cant wait!!
