Anthrax............

Just thought i would post this up, just F.Y.I. Just remember don't go snorting this white powder

The NZ Government has advised that there is no information to indicate that New Zealand might be a particular target and the risk of Anthrax through the mail in New Zealand is very low.

Precautions against Anthrax infection:
The recommendations from the Medical Officer of Health and Occupational Safety and Health are that mail processing and delivery staff:

should be diligent with washing their hands -- particularly before eating, smoking or drinking.
Staff should also try to avoid touching their faces while sorting mail. should be aware of any mail items coated in a white powder or dust that resembles baking powder -- the same procedure should be followed as with a bomb threat, i.e. clear the area, advise manager and alert security.

If staff are concerned about the risk of Anthrax infection, protective latex non-permeable rubber gloves should be used.

Symptoms for Anthrax:
Symptoms of the disease vary depending on how the disease was contracted, but symptoms usually occur within 7 days and include:

flu-like;
itchy skin in the affected area (e.g. head, forearms or hands);abdominal pain, nausea, Vomiting, and fever; bloody diarrhoea.

bloody diarrhoea???

good god i couldn't think of a more horrid way to go!

And what is really interesting - Anthrax was allegedly created by a CIA scientist in some lab in the states - almost seems ironic that the very biological agent they created is now threatening their very existence ... sadly enough its threatening OUR existence too!

The Anthrax issue is getting far more attention than it deserves. The number of deaths to date from Anthrax pales in comparison to the deaths caused by other deadly agents, such as Ebola in the African states. It is drawing attention away from the true task at hand:

1.to remove the Taliban from power, and to eliminate al Qaeda and bin Laden.

The threat of Anthrax is a cowardly ploy by the terrorists to destabilise the coalition of Western and front-line states Arab states. We are already hearing of suspicions that Iraq supplied the Anthrax to the terrorists. This is exactly what the terrorists wanted: to instill a sense of terror and in induce US to extend their campaign beyond Afghanistan and into Iraq, thereby destablising the Western coalition and removing the existing support for the US

Theres still no evidence to confirm that the people responsible arnt infact Americans. Certainly it looks like it could be related to the whole Osama issue, but that could be oppertunistic. Hell theres some crazy crazy yanks out their. I'll wait and see.. if I ever see.

I think the first 2 letters were posted on the 11th of sept. they had a warning in them that whoever opened them should start taking antibiotics. it seems that it was well known that something was going to happen on the 11th as for 2 days before hand US stocks started to dive as people round the world started to sell off. They think that this is how osama is making some of his money.

Yeah, I just think its all been blown outta proportion a bit thats all.. Its easy to get paranoid, or start thinking that this is serious shit. Especially with the American media and the 'straight from a movie' style reporting that is constantly dished out on CNN.

Journalistic indifference is a myth. The reports I've seen are verging on propaganda, their patriotism has blinded them... and christ the BBC ain't any better. They both report on the 'War on terror'.

Question, whats the difference between a terrorist and the military? Well, I'll answer: I would say its to do with their objectives.. Terrorists use scare tactics to try and intimidate their opponents. Military operations mostly have specific goals to weaken the enemy. Which it what it would seem Osama did? Ack.. just my thoughts.
