Read today in world section, NZ Herald, that American will pull out its UN peacekeeping force to Bosnia unless it gets immunity from the War Crimes court. Mmm, I wonder what America have to hide this time. Thoughts?
[quote]
They dont have to fide anything, they can just kill everyone else.
[quote]
I think its got to do with the fact they just went and detained a bunch of people from Afganistan and have kept them confined in a military base for interrogation ...I think they've been doing all sorts of dodgy related stuff for years.

bomb a wedding?
[quote]
Bombing weddings is fine, thats not a war crime, its "colateral damage" if you're the US Wink
[quote]
They want UN forces to be immune from accusations when they are in a country carrying out peace keeping dutys... too much to ask?
[quote]
harvey: To be fair, the wedding guests were firing automatic weapons into the air while american forces flew overhead... is that really a wise thing to do in a military zone?
[quote]
Yeah, point taken. But it is the fifth time they've bombed civilians or their own soldiers in Afaganistan now.

Why would they be worried about accusations ...unless their is some basis to them?
[quote]
They are not asking for immunity for the U.N forces in the Balkans, but Immunity from everything in the last 50 years. I think that is too much to ask for.
The troops in the Balkans are being used as bargining chips.
If the Nuremburg Laws were applied to the U.S, every President since Truman would be sentanced to hang.

agree poo

Collateral damage sucks, but it happens. Look at the carpet bombing in WWII - that was a lot worse.
[quote]
The US should abide by the same rules as everyone else. If they want to do dodgy shit then they should expect to get punished for it. Its just more bullyboy tactics from the self pofessed cops of the world. Imagine if our cops wanted something similar to happen, no-one would accept it and neither should the america be able to get away with it.
[quote]
agrees with JAH.
[quote]
Its a bit different from our cops, because as you said they arent the 'cops of the world'. No one is paying them and it costs a phenominal amount to be peacekeeping all over the fucking place. (they spend 80 billion a year on the middle east alone)

I can see why they dont think they should be exposed to all manner of accusations for providing a voluntary service for free (especially if you consider how everyone seems to have a grudge against the US)

They honestly dont have any other option but to withdraw all their peacekeeping forces if this goes through. You know it and I know it.
[quote]
The idea of the US having peace-keeping forces is laughable considering how many conflicts they play some role in starting or making worse.
[quote]
Justice at any cost as long as its not against the americans. Everyone knows america can act how it like.

Just think of stallone " I am the lawww" - pretty much sums up how america thinks of itself.
[quote]
"No one is paying them and it costs a phenominal amount to be peacekeeping all over the fucking place"

But they do tend to do things that are in their own best interests when they are playing cops. There are benefits to the US.
[quote]
Why on Earth shoulld America be treated any differently to other countries when it comes to war crimes?

Thats just hypocricy at its worst.
[quote]
"(they spend 80 billion a year on the middle east alone) "

i bet they do. and they get more than that back in cheap oil of course.
[quote]
rimu, wtf? get a clue man, America's oil purchases are the only reason we dont have 'dollar a day' adds on tv for the middle east. Americas economy is basically supporting half of the world.
[quote]
They support half the world so they can control the world.

Other countries also give what aid they can afford but you dont here them saying I want immunity for anything bad things I do.

[quote]
America is seen around the world for what it is... The EU, excluding Britain, know what corrupt f#*ckers they are

The only ones who are kidding themselves are Bush Jr, his lackeys, Sharon and Blair

[quote]
Stuff like the steel tarrifs really pisses me off, America shouldn't be doing that.
[quote]
Yeah trapper. You could also go on about the Beef tariffs as well. So much for free trade eh. Didnt the WTO give America shit for that?
[quote]
Yep beef is just as bad, all tarrifs are bad.
[quote]
Yeah, the WTO sticks up for the little countries when dealing with America

NZ was one of them

As for the beef tariffs, you could also complain about the EU and their common agriculture policy, that screws up many states
