Read today in world section, NZ Herald, that American will pull out its UN peacekeeping force to Bosnia unless it gets immunity from the War Crimes court. Mmm, I wonder what America have to hide this time. Thoughts?
I think its got to do with the fact they just went and detained a bunch of people from Afganistan and have kept them confined in a military base for interrogation ...I think they've been doing all sorts of dodgy related stuff for years.
harvey: To be fair, the wedding guests were firing automatic weapons into the air while american forces flew overhead... is that really a wise thing to do in a military zone?
They are not asking for immunity for the U.N forces in the Balkans, but Immunity from everything in the last 50 years. I think that is too much to ask for.
The troops in the Balkans are being used as bargining chips.
If the Nuremburg Laws were applied to the U.S, every President since Truman would be sentanced to hang.
The US should abide by the same rules as everyone else. If they want to do dodgy shit then they should expect to get punished for it. Its just more bullyboy tactics from the self pofessed cops of the world. Imagine if our cops wanted something similar to happen, no-one would accept it and neither should the america be able to get away with it.
Its a bit different from our cops, because as you said they arent the 'cops of the world'. No one is paying them and it costs a phenominal amount to be peacekeeping all over the fucking place. (they spend 80 billion a year on the middle east alone)
I can see why they dont think they should be exposed to all manner of accusations for providing a voluntary service for free (especially if you consider how everyone seems to have a grudge against the US)
They honestly dont have any other option but to withdraw all their peacekeeping forces if this goes through. You know it and I know it.
rimu, wtf? get a clue man, America's oil purchases are the only reason we dont have 'dollar a day' adds on tv for the middle east. Americas economy is basically supporting half of the world.
