Well it seems that the All Age scene is booming atm with events such as Yellow Brick Road, Urban, and Spectrum constantly getting numbers of 600+ even getting upto 1300 Shocked
I dont know about the rest of you but i think its great to see that the Under agers are getting out there, enjoying the music or not, its great to see so many people dancing and enjoying themselves Very Happy
Ignition is coming in August @ The Crypt which should be pumping looking forward to seeing whats coming up in the future in the scene

So what do you guys think about the Growth of the scene in recent months?Good thing, Bad thing?
Im interested in hearing your thoughts

Yer i started in the all ages scene almost 3 years ago now, oh my god i cant believe its been that long since the first YBR and seeing katie braeking out her amazing dance moves with glow stiks in hand, she gave me free glowsticks that night, Smile (my first experience of all the nice people who enjoy dance msuic) Smile

I think its great how so many more younger people like me are getting into it, when i started listening to dance music those years ago all my friends were all WTF? they were all listening to "all the small things" by blink 182 at the time, but now with the popularity arisen around the all ages scene they are all begging me to give them a ride to YBR or "try get my name on the door" lol.

I love how much more frequent all ages parties are now too, all round the explosion in the all ages scene is one of the best things to happen in my life Smile

THANK YOU SO MUCH to all the (lil) older people who have made it possible for the younger people to enjoy the atmosphere and music that was once restricted to 18+

I cant wait till Spectrum and ignition they look like two very WHAT nights! Razz
[quote]
So does that mean you would like to see more all ages gigs springing up?
You dont think the general crowd will get bored of them happening all the time?
[quote]
I'd definitely love to see more coming up and know all my friends would. EVERYONE of my friends are always craving the next all ages!, sure its a thought that flooding the scene with parties might make it boring but from the people i talk to taking photos and round school etc they are always dieing for the next one, ive even heard many people say they were on every weekend lol. Razz (personally id never get anything done in weekends if this was the case)

I think location is quite key to the success of the parties too. Although spectrum is on krd and gets great numbers, i believe there would be higher numbers at a venue like the Crypt (only because it is thought as such a better area and it avoids parents *stigma* around the "evil" krd (i know this all too well)

But hey the all ages VIBE IS HOT right now AND EVERYONE is begging for more, so whoevers putting them up and on you can garantee on one thing i will always try and be there and so will my friends.

SO BRING ON THE ALL AGES EXPLOSION!!! Very Happy Very Happy

One more thing worth adding is that YBR was on the same night as almost(if not all) the school balls in auckland and they still got huge numbers!

This is a very clear example of younger peoples thoughts on all ages.

The all ages scene right now is wicked.

I can't compare it to years previous but I can tell you that I thoroughly enjoy it's current status. It is always cool to be able to go to school and talk to friends about Dance music, all ages scene, etc. as it is rarely talked about.

It is because of events like YBR and Urban that so many people know about it. So Thank You and bring it on.

All Ages scene has definately grown in the last 8 months..I dunno how or what exactly happened but its just blown up..

It has changed in the last 3-4 years however.
Back in the day of Iconz/ministry/central studios everybody knew each other and use to go out every weekend or every couple weeks.

Now its like theres heaps of different crowds emerging at every single event. Looking through the pictures and being at the events there always different people..only a small handful of people u recognise which is mainly people off the boards..but not enough solid regulars.

Although it has grown..i liked it when the scene was smaller. the atmosphere at the two dance parties spectrum and ybr has changed slightly but there isn't much you can do about that.

I still rate All Age gigs over most R18 dance party (in New Zealand). Still nothing will beat DNB gigs @ Fu. I'm well over "All Age" age but still find myself having a better and fun time at them.

Prediction for coming events: DnB will get a larger following in the All Age scene.

What Ignition all about then?

For any promoters reading this - if you need someone to coordinate, promote, operate or establish dnb at your gig - let me know.

Happy to support anyone who is increasing the awareness and versatility of dnb in the youth of today.

its crazy ay, i remember being at the ybr in february, no queue, took less than 3 mins to get in. nowadays people waiting for hours..

so mentioning that there are pros and cons

i think there should be more events during the sumer months this coming summer, i think a lot of people would appreciate that

i'm pleased as can be with the number of all-age events lately. as long as it's not hip-hop keep 'em coming!! Music

[quote]
Yea dude as patick said there is only hip hop played i reckon they need someone to come round the schools and offer tech music and things or offers that get people at school an opertunity to listen and try out the music cause im with patty here aye... The young generation is coming up and there are heaps more people going to the all age events and i think its mint how people get together and present it to underaged people and i thank them for it aye!!! Music Wink

It would be cool if some group would create something to give of the tech music to the school and shit you know!!!

anyway I LOVE LISTENING to trance man.. it puts you in a trance for real makes you think about lots of things

Trance is awesome to get cranked up for something. It puts you in that mood which can make you feel like a million bucks, and motivate you to make the extra special effort to listen to it again. It should be classified as a drug its so addictive.

Hip-hop is fine in minimal quntities. When I'm sitting in a house with tonnes of people whos most original dance move is to throw their hands at the DJ all night long, it can become a bit annoying. Still, it seems to be the big thing for our generation at the moment, sadly.

Thank God for House, Trance, DnB, and all other kinds of Dance Music. Without it, many of us would be lost.

And remember that techno conquers all.

woah woah woah!!

lets not get into any genre wars here ..
People prefer different music for various reasons .. and I can see some damn good reasons for most genres (hell after spectrum the other night Im getting back into HH, something I never thought I would say)

But, as for the all ages scene being so large, I think its fantastic.

My first All ages event was Bonkers (not sure of the numbers, but it was a fairly large event) .. the next being a Yellowbrick road, where I painted myself as the yellow brick road for laughs. The atmosphere has slowly gone down hill, I think it partly has to do with the competition (of course there is always going to be some brand loyalty, but dont ruin it for others by bad mouthing other promoters) ...

I think that the YBR / Spectrum / Urban / Ignition / Nitrate crew have done wonders. If anyone ever needs a hand with anything, I am always up to support the all ages events with 110%

the underagers of today, are the crowd of tomorrows dance parties, and we need to get some more up for it people into places like Slinky/Godskitchen events, rather than those who are just there for a couple of hours.

Huge support there, and I think its fantastic!
