MAT LOCK – Progressive, Uplifting and Hard Trance

London based dj Mat Lock has been establishing a busy & extensive career in London & the UK. Starting his career on TranceAirwaves radio in 2003 a year later Mat Lock made his club debut. In 2005 Mat Lock entered Heat UK’s DJ Comp beating off the competition to take 1st prize & winning a set at the Heat UK South West 4 Launch Party. 3 years on Mat Lock has regularly played in clubs alongside the biggest rising & established stars in the UK scene. Mat Lock hosts his own show, Ataraxia, on internet radio site www.DanceRadio.gr. 2007 saw Mat Lock & studio partner Luke Warner create their first track, Deep Psychosis, signed to DJSA Records & released on 10/12/07. The track was championed by Armin van Buuren on his A State of Trance show & won Tune of the Week & Future Favourite in successive weeks. The track also made it to Armin's A State Of Trance Year Mix 2008 compilation from Armada Music. Their second production, Catching Dreams – Timeless (Luke Warner & Mat Lock Remix) was a track that entered into a competition held on CrystalClouds.com & was signed up by the label Crystal Clouds Recordings & was released 08/12/07.

I just took the data from the London website Harderfaster where there was a list of all my sets.

Can't even see your DJ profile on Harder Faster let alone a list of ALL of your sets

Not sure how or why a website such as Harder Faster (or any other clubbing website) would list every set a particular DJ has played unless that particular DJ added it to that particular website.

To be honest I'm not so sure why anyone would really want to know

First rule of getting booked to play at gigs - become friends with the people who are putting them on. Your actual DJing resume and talent aren't nearly as important.

Sad but true, even though your ability to be friends with someone (whoever that may be) doesn't change your DJing skills. You could be positively crap at playing out but if you know enough 'people' hey all of a sudden you're a whiz - for a few years anyway.

So if I came up to you at a party and said I'm a dj. Being a promoter or some kind you wouldn't then ask the question of where I've played, what parties I've played at or what kind of genres I play.

It's just the same here as if I had spoken it to someone who asked in a club or who I would be telling to promote myself to an interested promoter.

I know how it all works with who you know not what you can do, I've been around long enough to realise, that especially in the London club scene. If I didn't I wouldn't have that list of sets that you so rightly feel is pointless to any one.

I merely put this up because a) I am playing at Nathan's party soon b) I'd like people to check my website and listen to some mixes and c) to make some actual friends in this country while I am here.

If you're not interested, why bother commenting? Just don't read it, nobody is making you. I personally think it's good to see people getting themselves out there and can't wait to have Mat play at the next Crank, not only because he's a cool guy but also because he's a wicked DJ! And the fact that he's played at so many awesome parties backs that up. This is a dance forum, everything that was posted is perfectly relevant! I don't agree with whoever said that it's ALL about who you know... obviously that can help but if you can't mix you still won't get anywhere.

Remember what your parents taught you - if you're not going to say something nice (or at least slightly constructive), don't say anything at all. It's good advice. Now be nice and I'll see all you lovely people at Crank

Might have to agree to disagree on that one bro, i like to hold onto the notion that (in the end) actions speak louder than words. You can tell more about someone with what they do then what they say imo, as much about communication really is nonverbal. Family has got something to do with that too - damn them...

Mat, you should play a mix of 'Deep Psychosis' @ Crank maybe...

I may well do Quamay but not the obvious Kandi remix so I'll go with one of the others, or the original as I still love our riff !

I remember accidentally playing our original instead of the Kandi mix once and it still got a great response, even myself who was havin it in the booth !

But at least there will be photos
