Matrix & Futurebound (UK) (Viper Recordings, Metro Recordings)
http://www.myspace.com/matrixandfuturebound
Having both pursued long, successful solo careers, Matrix & Futurebound need no introduction to drum & bass fans around the world. Both run their own labels -Matrix with Metro Recordings, and Futurebound with the Viper Recordings imprint. With releases on virtually every top label from Virus and Ram to Moving Shadow and Hospital Records, Matrix and Futurebound's individual accomplishments speak for themselves. Their first collaborative effort, 2005's 'Strength 2 Strength', formed the groundwork for what would later turn into the release of their massive debut album, 'Universal Truth'. With huge support from the top DJs in drum & bass and the likes of Radio 1's Annie Mac, Zane Lowe & Pete Tong, Universal Truth went on to become one of the most successful drum & bass albums to date.
The result was a sublime combination of straight up dance floor devastation and soulful futurism demonstrating perfectly why Matrix and Futurebound have found themselves firmly at the forefront of the drum and bass scene.
Matrix & Futurebound teamed up again later in 2007 for the release of their gargantuan remix of Nu:tone's 'System'. The tune became an instant classic, dropped by the likes of Andy C to Annie Mac and everyone in between, 'System' has become a permanent fixture in DJ bags all over the world ever since. Following this they then went on to remix Justin Timberlake's 'Love Stoned' for the remix single release.
Into 2008 and there was no letting up as Matrix & Futurebound then released their first follow up single to 'Universal Truth', with 2008's 'Womb' / 'Family' (Nu:tone & Logistics RMX). Both artists kept their fingers firmly on the pulse with various other projects. Matrix, in collaboration with Shimon, released 'Slipstream' / 'Dirty 5th' on Shimon's newly formed AudioPorn Records, while Futurebound teamed up with the Brookes Brothers to create the soulful anthem 'Dawn Treader', released on Breakbeat Kaos.
Futurebound's label Viper Recordings has also quickly climbed the ladder as one of the premier drum & bass labels in the scene with releases from new signings ShockOne, Metrik, Brookes Brothers, DC Breaks and Matrix & Futurebound just to name a few.
Moving into 2009 and the success of Matrix & Futurebound's productions led to many of the biggest labels and artists in the industry to request high profile remixes from the duo, in which Matrix & Futurebound duly obliged, turning tracks by the likes of Moby, Lazee, Snap! & Ian Carey amongst others into DnB killers.
As well as this the duo managed to squeeze another banging release into their ridiculously busy schedule, dropping the dancefloor smasher 'Shanghai Surprise', backed with the uplifting vocal vibes of 'Reflection'.
And to cap the year off perfectly Futurebound pieced together one of the biggest albums of 2009 ‘Acts of Mad Men’ on his seminal Viper recordings label.
‘Acts of Mad Men’ featured many of the scenes high profile players such as Ed Rush & Optical, Brookes Brothers, Nero alongside the whole Viper family Camo & Krooked, ShockOne, Metrik, DC Breaks, Furlonge and Matrix & Futurebound and as well as being championed by the DnB hierarchy was also named Radio 1’s album of the week.
As we enter 2010 Matrix & Futurebound have begun work on their eagerly anticipated second studio album, scheduled for release on the back end of 2010. Other highlights to look out before though is new material from Matrix’s Metro imprint and Futurebound’s remix of Sasha’s trance classic ‘Xpander’ as well as another year of Viper goodness.
Noah D (USA) (Subway, Basshead, Earwax)
http://www.myspace.com/noahd
Noah D is without doubt one of, if not the top, Dubstep producers emerging from the USA. Building his reputation in both the Dubstep and Drum n Bass circles since 2003, he remains highly regarded on both sides of the Atlantic for his musical output which ranges from reggae steppas such as the sold out WAR007 "Police Polizia" to club bangers like his remix of Sukh Knight's "Diesel not Petrol". Not far from his musical roots as a master of the Didgereedoo more recently Noah D has gained notable recognition for "Seeeriousss", as it became 2009's 'must have' plate for the touring DJ.
His music has received consistent radio play on many of the UK’s biggest radio stations including RinseFM, Kiss and BBC’s 1xtra and he has been supported worldwide from DJ’s such as Skream, Dieselboy, DJ Hype, N-Type, Plastician, Bassnectar, Glitch Mob and Benga just to name a few!
Behind the decks this state side steppa commands the dancefloor with his unique blend of beats, relentless energy, and unmistakable attention to detail while in the mix. If you had plans for the Royal Easter Show, cancel them - because USA's hottest dubstep act hit's Australia & New Zealand and that mean's it's time to get seeeeeriousssss!
Trolley Snatcha (UK) (Dub Police)
http://www.myspace.com/trolleysnatcha
Since 2009, 22 year old Zack Kemp aka Trolley Snatcha has been carving his way through the ranks of dubstep one stolen shopping trolley at a time. Having taken inspiration from Massive Attack, The Prodigy, Slipknot, Sepeltura, and even the occasional crackheads asking for money on the street – he has come to manufacture heavyweight new school filth so utterly face melting that it has destroyed venues world-wide and sought repeat rewinds from the likes of Skream, Benga, Jakes, Rusko, Dr P, Joker, Chase & Status, 12th Planet and more!
Even before collaborating with Caspa on the infamous “STLO” DP Remix, Trolley Snatcha had taken the world by storm with his chart topping tunes “The Future” and “Scattah” both of which saw releases on London’s heavyweight label Dub Police. With tunes such as “I Don’t Care” and “March of the Mallards” getting serious airtime, and a raft of releases on the way – missing this cutting edge bass machine’s debut performances would be nothing short of an act of retardation!
Fresh faced from touring the far reaches of Israel, Belguim, France, Norway, Holland, and ramming venues like Fabric, Ministry of Sound and the Custard Factory – Trolley Snatcha is now headed to Australia and New Zealand for Easter and unless you're happy to sit back and watch people’s faces get disfigured by his tunes on YouTube.. you’d better hurry up and secure your place at his next show!
Shock One (AUS) (Viper Recordings)
http://www.myspace.com/shockonemusic
Hailing from Perth the epicenter of the Australasian drum and bass scene, ShockOne aka Karl Thomas is fast becoming one of D&B’s major talents. He writes his music in a sweat box of a studio in an industrial area with air con blasting through a random door. He grew a beard this year which has been very well received.
2009 has seen Shockone come of age with the release of 'The Shockone EP', featuring the chart topping 'Polygon'. This tune received major air play world wide with high rotation play listing on Australia's Triple J radio and Radio 1's Annie Mac penning it as 'The biggest drum and bass tune out'. The EP's three drum and bass tunes achieved the top 3 spots on beatports drum and bass chart, and 'Adachigahara's Theme' stayed at number 1 on the dubstep chart for over a month. Following this Shockone released his remix of the Brookes Brothers epic 'Crackdown' on Viper recordings 'Acts of Madmen LP' which was labeled "Album of the Week" on Zane Lowe BBC Radio 1. Shockone's collaborations with Phetsta, 'The Sun 2009' and 'Cyclones' have also received high rotation on radio world wide.
2009 also saw Shockone take out "Best Tune of the Year" at the Perth dance music awards for the third year running with 'Polygon', as well as best drum and bass dj and best broken beat producer for the second year in a row.
With his tracks being aired frequently by the scenes biggest hitters such as Andy C, Hype, Friction, High Contrast and Matrix + Futurebound - you'll get to witness first hand what Shockone's all about during his Easter Weekend New Zealand tour with Phetsta as the duo pair to showcase an exclusive audio-visual performance!
Phetsta (AUS) (Technique Recordings)
http://www.myspace.com/phetstamusic
Phetsta burst onto the Drum & Bass scene in 2005 when he signed exclusively to the legendary Simon Bassline Smith's imprint Technique Recordings. The Australian producer quickly carved his own sound within the genre with early releases such as Intergalactic and Blur (Mixmag's tune of the month - May 2006).
In 2007 Phetsta released the acclaimed Congo EP, Knowledge Magazine calling it a "production masterpiece". The four track extended player cracked the top ten on BBC Radio 1's Drum & Bass charts. Phetsta show cased his versatility by slowing things down to 130 bpm for a guest single on Aquasky's label Passenger Recordings.
In 2008 he released From My Eyes, which received significant Radio 1 support from Annie Mac. and held onto a top ten position on Drum 'n' Bass Arena for eight weeks straight. Phetsta also teamed up with fellow Perth based producer ShockOne to unleash the award winning (PDMA Track of the Year 200

single The Sun. The duo also collaborated with London based Metrik on the dance floor tear out True Believer which featured on ShockOne's self titled extended player on Viper Recordings.
2009 proved successful again with Phetsta & Shock One's Cyclones gaining day time rotation on Australia's Triple J, including a top three placing on Super Request. Their next single The Sun 2009 has also received significant airplay as well as television support on ABC Australia's video clip show Rage.
2010 will see the release of a brand new EP, plus remixes for Bassline Smith, DJ Panik, Hot Pink Delorean and Camo & Krooked.
Phetsta's DJ skills have seen him tour both nationally and overseas, including two eight week long sell out tours of Europe and one in The United States. His music has found its way into the record boxes of the likes of Pendulum, Grooverider, Andy C and Annie Mac - again making this one act you do not want to miss out on!
L.A.O.S (FIN) (Hospital Recordings, Spearhead, Defunked)
http://www.myspace.com/largeamountofsoul
L.A.O.S. is a collaboration of three oldschool beatheadz Abraham , D-bex and JayEm. They have known each other for several years but not until 2002 they understood the obvious fact that they should join forces in music production. They share the same passion for music and their taste of music is expectionally identical.
L.A.O.S. sound is mainly melodic, dancefloor oriented drum and bass but their wide aspect in music wont hold them in one genre. As one wise man said: “There are only two types of music: good and bad”.
L.A.O.S. has a bunch of releases on labels like Hospital (UK), Raw Canvas (4hero remix) (UK), Spearhead (UK) and Spin Recordings (DK). Their tracks are getting dj support from names like Gilles Peterson, London Elektricity, Zinc, Blu Mar Ten, Blame, Annie Mac (BBC Radio1), Kasra and Utah Jazz just to name a few. Their release “Panda Style” has gained worldwide recognition and future will tell will these boys be known for inventing “endangered species step” music genre. In 2007 they were asked to do a remix for 4hero of their track called “Morning Child“.
In 2009 their own label imprint “Large Amount of Soul” released an EP called “So Much To Tell you” with four highly rated dancefloor smashers: “Back no more”, “So much to tell you”, “Rise” and “I want you”. In april 2009 Spin Recordings released a single with tracks “GTGD feat. Kaleb” and “Something in the air“. It went directly to Beatport top10 and stayed there for a good while. L.A.O.S. is planning of releasing album at the end of 2009 so they will be busy in the studio as well as djing around the globe.
Having hit Auckland in 2008, D-Bex just couldn't stay away - and is back in NZ this Easter to deliver a serving of the best liquid Drum and Bass Finland has to offer! Its time to do it... Panda Style.
