But good lord, Netanyahu's response to his speech (which was inflammatory and aggressive but from what I've read didn't deny the holocaust or call for Israeli destruction) was:
We will not allow the Holocaust deniers to carry out another Holocaust against the Jewish people.

Ahhhhh, what? Way to be just as melodramatic.

LOL... I support Israel, but Iran also has the right of free speech.

Having said that - I haven't checked out Ahmadinejad's speech; if it contains factually incorrect information then that doesn't fall under the 'free speech' umbrella.

I've only seen it in quotes, not full transcript but there were no outright factual lies in it - although plenty of overly aggressive and emotive rubbish.

haven't seen the speech, nor do I care to... I imagine its the usual stuff from him - which western media has reported wrong in the past (propaganda services will resume after this reality TV show)

isreal does a good line in emotive rubbish too -they are experts in saying peace whilst they kill innocents etc.

and its time Israel stopped with the holocaust line - FFS sake get over it and move on.... it was europe, it was nazis, it has no bearing on your current situaton (except where you act like nazis)

I will probably look up and read what Ahmadinejad said. But in the meantime, I can only comment on what was in the Herald, viz:

...Ahmadinejad also accused Israel of being the "most cruel and repressive racist regime" and blamed the US invasion of Iraq on a Zionist conspiracy..."

Now, anyone who know any Arabs at all know that the idea that the United States is manipulated by a zionist conspiracy is pretty much mainstream opinion. Like it or not, Ahmadinejad is merely expressing the opinion of practically every Arab.

And secondly, the claim that the Holocaust has become the figleaf for the dispossession of an entire people from their lands and the ghettoisation of those people in their own slow-burning Holocaust is hardly without truth, and can be heard expressed in any number of moderate people's dinner parties right across the west, not just in the minds of the mad Mullahs of Iran.

It seems to me that this walk out by Boycott/Western countries has been a orchestrated attempt to drown out comments that are not racist, but merely not what they want to hear.

Maybe Ahmedasuperbad should consider the genocide committed by Muslims when they invaded and seized the Holy Land in the 10th and 11th centuries?

israels comments make more sense in that he denies the holocaust and today is the day it is remembered (apparently).

The term genocide didn't exist then, therefore he doesn't have to :>

I'll be they're all wishing they'd had the maturity to stay in the room, listened to what he had to say, so that they could use their turn to speak their minds and respond to his comments.

At the end of the day he knew (or at least his superiors knew) exactly how this was going to pan out and this is how they planned it from the get go. Iran isn't going to sit by and let a discussion between world leaders about racism happen without the Palestine issue being thrown in their faces - I'm surprised that people didn't see something like this coming.
