ok, first off I am going to be the first one to admit that when I comes to exercise and eating healthily I am incredibly lazy at the moment. I told myself that my new years resolution was going to be to go to the gym instead of the pub after work and start eating the right foods. However, it;s January 23rd adn I have only set foot inside the gym twice all year. My family is also making me feel guilty Smile with both my sisters being Persoanl Trainers, a marathon runner father, and a gym bunny mother you think some of their motivation would rub off on me Sad I don't think i'll have a problem with the healthy eating bizzo but really the gym thing is making me feel ultra guilty. I need some ideas to motivate myself for getting my lazy ass to to some exercise, even if it's not at the gym, any sort of exercise will do. Help me out, what can I do to motivate myself ?????? (besides danceparties Razz

Get a gym partner, someone that is going to be able to stick to the same program that you have, set yourself a target, do you want to tone up, do you want to loose weight etc. and talk to one of your sisters about the right exercises.
Then... get into it!!!!

Like yourself Heavenly, I like the idea of going to the gym and getting amongst it...
However, Due to laziness - I cant really be bothered even though we would all agree that the benefits outway the negatives....

I think there are other substitutes than going to the gym...
Here is my scenario...
I came back from the Gathering and my car had suddenly died on me and didnt really have the $$$ to get it fixed.
So I was looking at 2-3 weeks to get it back on the road again and I'm one of those people who just need to get out of the house and do things...

So I borrowed my flatmates Mountain Bike for where ever I wanted to go...
First my rides started out being short ones, like going to the local shops to purchase food etc..
As a couple of days went on, I actually started to enjoy it and increased the lengths of my rides.
I started packing my bag with a towel and shorts and rode out to days bay for the occasional swim...

Now, I've got my car fixed and shes back on the road, but I've found I'm hooked on going for these bike rides...nothing like fresh air and getting some exercise...
Plus apart from the bike itself....Its free, none of this monthly memeberships, having to drive down to the gym etc...

I dunno, each to there own I guess...
But If I were you, I'd try a few other little sporting activities first...

yeah Baynesy is onto it; maker exercise part of normal life, so you do it without thinking about it

Hmmm I think the thing with motivation is something within. (Spirtual).

I myself get motivated by competition. I set myself goals and go out a bet them.

On a day like today, I go absolutely mad and try and kick butt, on the road, or in the pool.

I think the thing with you Heavenly is you need to find something that you really enjoy, try yoga or roller blading, something to music. Think of something you really enjoy to do, and try and incorporate that into a personal achievement. Like if you go on three runs this week, you can play all weekend.

Hope this helps sweetie Smile

oh god, it's jsut as I suspected Sad I actaully have to motivate myself!
[quote]
hehe Smile you'll be right chickdee.

Doesn't a day like today motivate you to get out and be in it Smile

It won't happen over night, but... Smile

No easy answers here sorry heavenly, everyone has pretty much covered it.

Basically the more effort u put into it the greater the results.

I second the gym partner thing, that way u can motivate each other (and it's cheaper than a personal trainer).

good luck!!!

Yeah good luck to you Heavenly Smile

I would take you out for a run, but I'd probably end up killing ya, and you would hate both me and running after that Smile

Maybe you could run with Baynesy next to you on a bike Smile
[quote]
like I could keep up with someone on a bike Razz I ill have to bully my flattie into joining Les Mills with me Sad
[quote]
Thats the spirit, that way you can torure eachother like me and my flatmate do! - I do hate him sometimes Wink

[quote]
BJ is my flatmate - and yes I am going to pay for it Smile
[quote]
I'm no idiot. If you read the thread closely you may notice I wasn't talking to you. I don't know who you are. I was talking to Steve.
[quote]
Sorry!! I didn't mean to call you an idiot! That was a rally weird coincidence. I was talking bout making my flatmate come to the gym with me - his name is BJ so I thought he was talking to me. Also he has never been on biggie before so I was a little surprised as he always gives me shit about it. No harm meant Smile
[quote]
Heavenly babe - Looks like you just made a biggie blunder!
[quote]

definitely, this BJ thinks i;m a bit of a bitch now!! I jsut read what I wrote and it sounds a bit mean!!
[quote]
I'm sure BJ understands..... He probably finds it quite humourous....
[quote]
now I also have to apologise to my flatmate for accusng him of coming onto biggie - I even rang him and gave him shit about it, he is gonna think I am weirrrrddddd!!
