Adjusties vs Lowering springs.....?

Whats everyone's thoughts?

Alot of the time I watch customers of mine put adjustables in there car, wind them down to there prefered height and thats the last time there changed which to me seems a bit of a waste giving how much there paying for them.

$350 vs $1200-$1800 plus cert.

thats cos 95% of guys with modified cars have got their hand on it.

i still dont get the monster tacho bit

I'm switching from lowering springs to Tien 16ways .. in a month. need to drop down an extra inch in the front.

I have got nex adjustables coming in soon that I could do for wholesale price, $1000, there not as higher quality as tein, more along the lines of d2 etc...

lol I have no idea why people have monster tacho's, if they really needed they could just get a shiftlight but just about every young guy driving round with these has no need for them and cant drive for shit anyway lol

Hey mlfb8 I'm after a set of lowering springs for an EK4 civic, ones that will give a nice ride height when the car is on light weight 15s

hey man, superlow jamex's would give a pretty good ride height, 45-50mm drop, $300

Yeah not looking to save coin, just want the best light weight / most options / performace. Tein do them for my car as well.

Its very similar to this one .. (wheels are the same size etc etc) While happy with my ride height, Im wanting to bring the front down another half and inch.

1990 series 5 rx7 turbo. The jamex springs i put in said they were 30mm lower and to be honest the front is probably about that, but the back has hardly gone down at all......

tom ... don't fuck around .. go full adjustable coil overs ... then bring it run for some lovin at our house, will set the ride height properly

30mm? that is bugger all, atleatst want 40's or 50mm
I would probably go with nemisis and get adjusties.
I could get some nex ones for you for $1000 or if you are wanting you could compress your jamex and gt the shocks shortened, another option but by the time you mess around with that you will be atleast $500-$600

No thanks guys, ill be selling the car in about a year and wanna keep it fairly standard. I just wondered if it was worth compressing another 20mm (i have fitted brand new KYB shocks with the springs). At the moment the exhaust is prob only about 60mm off the ground, and since im now a married man, i have to drive around supermarket car parks with judder bars!!

yo nemisis, your right that tein make the super street series coilover for your ride but unfortunately the nz distributor has never carried them for your ride, I then rung up my only tein contact in america but couldn't help me out.
If mr twincam wants a set for his bb6 prelude I could get there last set they had for $1619 + gst which wasn't a bad price at all

You may find it very tricky to get them from tein as the newzealand tein distributor currently has exclusive rights to bringing it into the country, however if you look at ebay and search for e46 tein you will find there are some hell deals there, you can probably get them for around $1000us plus shipping which aint too bad.

I have a set of Work lightweight 3 piece wheels with gold centre and a machined lip. Its not a chrome or polished lip which i suppose is why the scratches came right out with some 300 sandpaper and some autosol polish!

My 2C.
I've seen far too many cars lowered poorly, generally speaking, that is lowered just for aesthetics. If you're going to lower your car, Consider the effect on handling and safety issues, clearances etc. It is possible to lower your car and retain drivability, safety and enhance handling.

If you're going to lower your car, consider putting in harder, shorter stroke shocks to cater for the harder springs.

Most of the non-branded coil-over platform adjustable kits either don't include shocks, or use cheap, poor quality shocks that don't really do the trick. Why bother spending a grand or more and have a car that handles like a sack of shit. You may as well just go for a set of springs and cut to suitable length (if poss).

In your situation, if you're looking at getting rid of the car at some stage, you may as well just do springs and camber bolts to compensate. You won't get the money back when you sell it and it sounds like you're unlikely to ever use them.

I have heard alot of feed back on brands such as D2 and Daiyama's the so called cheaper brands, and from guys that regularly drift / drag and circuit race their various rides. Their performance for value has always been a common point.

Ummm, not off the top of my head, if you call a company called autoline, (no idea what there number is off the top of my head) who bring tein into the country they should be able to point you into the right direction
