His production is teh shizznit.... any good mix CD's by him available?

I had been conversing with Ade's managment a couple of months ago..
and he was available for a two date tour for $1500 including flights from aussie.

i did offer him to a few people a month or two back and very very surprisingly nobody took any interest so the venture was canned.

yes his production is the shite...pity nobody took advantage of such a good deal really...as i hear he is the bomb on 3 decks.

maybe next time huh

i know huh...it was rediculosly cheap as he had a cancelation while he was on tour in aussie and wanted to fill a weekend in..

nobody was interested as they werent sure how the techno would go down,hows that for arse

not surprising though if you take a look at nz's techno history.
claude young = loss due to lack of punters, money missing and club clossed down!
cari lekebusch = about 10 punters went!
space dj's, jeff mills and derick may all struggled to get a profitable draw and i guess $$ was also down.
three of technos hottest international talent failed the nz market....
ade fenton would have been a wicked set but i think even at such a low cost it still would have lost to much money..... alas.

last weekend there was an illegal techno party 100 km out of Prague
called 'CzechTech' - dunno who the Dj's were but 40,000 punters danced there asses off all night - most of them off their faces on $NZD5 pills

that sounds cool.
i didnt emigrate but i am in europe on holiday. its even cheaper in holland .. the party selection is huge. i meet ppl here who are into techno but they say shit like ''surgeon, yeah saw him a few times, hes aright'' and ''im bit bored of jeff mills'' etc -spoiled little monkies they are here!!

$1500 fee + $1000 promo +$??? club hire +$300 support + .....
Looking at around $3-4k for a DJ who is very unknown.

While a bunch of us would give our spare organs to see him, I think that anyone who's done anything here would have seen this as suicide.

I would also like to point out that it's not too hard to promote, you just need the $$ - everyone would be more than willing to lend a hand!!

$1500 ain't really that cheap for a cancelation fee, can get them for less than that if you're lucky, even bigger names... anyone knowing more in the future shoot it to the forum and see if there's any takers

aaaah, the hidden/miscellaneous costs.
yeh makes me understand a bit more about the business model. Having no experience in promotion I didnt really see all this.
Oh well ...we'll all just have to enjoy our locals (not so hard really) and save up for our o'seas trips....

gee 1500 sounded pretty dam cheap to me..
especially for two dates and airfares included

thats 500 for return flight to aussie
and 500 a gig

of heard of djs from auckland charging 500 or more to play in small towns like (napier,tauranga,ohakune) and they werent even all that,nor worth 500

so yeah i still reckon it was pretty dam cheap offer

but anyways,it wasnt cheap enough for a bum like me to front so we all missed out....BUMMER

saw him in Melbourne last year and he was completely upstaged by the support

The problem is that Soane, Dick Johnson, Greg Churchill and Bevan Keys are all splashed over the media, have massive local supprot, and are networked by the drugfueled masses - nothing against them cos they're all rock solid, but they do pull the punters, hence the fees.
Nothing to do with skills. Ausie djs pull crowds in ausi, so they command fees that are pretty steep compared to their skills too, and then again some dodgey little NZ tech dj is lucky to pull $80ph or whatever when they can outmix some of the pros, it's a real shame.

Keep supporting the locals.
