some big calls,
marshall at halfback,
no lomu not even on the bench.....

only five of the team that faced aussie last time!

has mitchell got it right?????????
[quote]
wheres Kees Meauws?

fucking joke, he was the man in the last game!

I am putting a fat $20 on the Aussies to win...

mitchell is a fagnuts
[quote]
Fucking Marshall.

That's all I have to say about that.
[quote]
mitchell is fucking marshall.
[quote]
I disagree strongly with several selections, such as Ralph and Dave Hewitt, but since Mitchell knows a bit more about rugby than me, I'll let it go Wink
[quote]
caleb ralph - average
justin Marshall - Grogan will walk all over him
[quote]
Whats the team list? I have been a bit removed from the goings on in NZ recently.
[quote]
if ya think about it, Marshall always pulls out a big game against the international sides...but I do agree that Kelleher should be the starting h/b.
Even though we know what Lomu can do, I still think that on his past performances this season he doesn't deserve to be in the squad let alone the team....me thinks the NZRFU want to get there monies worth out of him.
I might be up for a twenty as well on the Aussies...they gotta play outta their skins to beat the Wallabies!!
[quote]
Marshall what the fuck ?

No lomu good one guys

Well im not one to be a turn coat but if u aint got the big boy on the wing then u aint going to win

aussie +13 points

29 - 16
[quote]
they finally figured it out.jonah has played shite for a while...alright to hav him on the bench as an "impact player" for 10 or so mins

why the pick ralph again? how many times did he drop the ball in the warm ups?

and kelleher should b starting!
[quote]
hmm well having him as an impact player is pointless

the thing is when he gets the ball he attracts 3-4 tacklers thus freeing other players hence why he should be starting

oh well good luck to them cause there are gana fucking need it, Wendal Sailor will be lol now cause he is going to run right over Ralph and it will be a case of i told u so .....
[quote]
Cullen - SmileThe Man

Dave Hewett Sad who?

there u go guys

Taine and Bryon on the bench

[quote]
Lomu is a fucking joke. They should have given up on him ages ago. The guy has average ball handling skills and crap positional play, the one thing he can do well is barge into people while running fast.

The All Blacks probably would have got rid of him a while ago, but hes good for marketing, so Adidas get to ensure he plays.
[quote]
harvey read what i posted about attracting tacklers
shows u no fuck all about rugby really....

if he is so shit why are there gridiron and league teams after him?

the guy creates havoc on the field and really he shouldnt have to worry about tackling or anything else.

thats what the centre and the full back are for.
he is there to score tries and knock ppl out of the way and i havnt been to / or seen a game yet when he hasnt done it?

when u have played against him u do no that the best thing to do is get the fuck out of the way...

but hey what the fuck would know

[quote]
The day Wendall Sailor can LOL at anything about the All Blacks is the day ...well it will never happen so it doesn't matter what day it is.

Dream on.
[quote]
Im not dreaming diva

the dude is huge its farking lucky Cullen is playing

otherwise wed be fucked, he ripped the shit out of the frence and if i remeber correctly we either just beat the frence or lost to them

If the Ab's win good stuff im not a turn coat i farking wouldnt eva support aussie but for fucks sake with Marshall " i'll take a dive cause i should be playing soccer " at 1/2 back we aint got a shit show in hell
[quote]
wendall sailor didn't even make the aussie squad either,

p.s tana wasn't picked because he wasn't fit enough, at the end of a day a half fit tana still ten times better than mark robinson!

aussies by 13+
[quote]
Forest: Who gives a shit if he attracts a few tacklers on attck. Its in defense that the games are won.

PS: Who told you that gridiron teams are after him? Thats just NZ media crap. I know a couple of people whos knowlege of American football is quite indepth, they informed me that nobody would want Lomu as they could easily find a bigger person that was even better at barging into people than him.
[quote]
well My uncle is a yank and he played gridiron
and erh the club i use to play for and have a hand in running in use to look after Johan Lomu and there plenty of offers flowing in

and it aint just on defence that the game is won sorry u need to have the attacking fire power as well.

that u have with Jonah not with Ralph

oh but thats right according to most of u non playing/ i no fuck all about rugby people im a farm boy that dosnt no anything.....

[quote]
lol you two kids bickering cracks me up Very Happy
[quote]
Ok, we can agree to disagree on Jonahs ability then. Although the person I know spends alot of time doing analysis stuff on the NFL, maybe it was college teams or something that were after him.

I do agree with you on Ralph though.

And just because I think Rugby is very unrewarding and utterly boring game to play, does not mean I don't know anything about it ok Wink
[quote]
Keep out of it D-Man, you're getting in the way of my casting ...I'm trying to reel in a big one here Wink
[quote]
lomu is a good player but as harvey points out he does have a lot of weaknesses in his game. sure he may attract tacklers but i don't think against the aussis that would be an issue.they are more clued up than that. also lomu's form of late has hardly been suggesting a starting position is merited. lacklustre in his starts and off the bench against crap teams does not really show much promise against the big aussi guns. i think lomu is overrated, sure he can turn a game but that happens rarely these days and too much is nostalgic.
i don't agree with mitchell's team, too many crusaders.they maybe strong in super 12 where they can operate as a strong unit but test matches call for individual flair and there is not enough of this in the team bar howlett and cullen. if you remember the last time that mitchell fielded so many crusaders against ireland in auckland the tries didn't start to flow until there were replacements made and the unit broken up so here is hoping mitch knows best come saturday. perhaps the fact it is in chch will lift the game as it truly is home advantage.
[quote]
bring back jonah
[quote]
Marshall jesus christ....in the games we've had so far it looked to me like Marshall had actually practised throwing delayed, wobbly, floating passes to no-one....

Byron on the otherhand proved his worth by scoring less than 30 seconds after walking on the field....why does the whole country see this, but not John Mitchell????

Lomu....work to be done, but if they want to use him as an impact player, I think it's pointless giving him 10-15 mins, bring him on 25-30 mins out.
[quote]
ha ha PFunk good call

I'll dive in here later when Ive got more time
[quote]
Well Wendall's been dropped so we don't have to have an arm wrestle about it after all Forest, LOL!!

Wink

Marshall won't be on for long hopefully. I just don't get it. I don't understand it. I know they go on about his combinations with Mehrts, but surely that doesn't make up for his lollipop passes and average-everything. I know the country is divided on this issue and I have a bit of a girly crush on Byron Kelleher but I don't think that clouds my judgement on his superior ability as halfback.

Sadly, I think Jonah's best days are over, which is still not saying he's no good. He's great, but unfortunately this is the NZ team which means that twenty other young punks want your place in the team, so one wrong move or average game and they start baying for it.

In a way that's our downfall. The chopping and changing every week because we just have too much talent to pick from. It may prevent us gelling properly as a team from one game to the next.

Well good luck to our boys. We fuckin better win because I live in Sydney and have been having a hard time being a gracious loser in the past couple of years.

[quote]
Lomu is good for the following reasons

draws defenders in, ie 2-3 people it takes to
talke him, thereby drawing them into the
ensuing maul/ruck area, creating more space
out wide and gaps also.

bullocking runs. nuff said.
[quote]
But why is that when i say this before damien no one agrees with me?
[quote]
Because nobody likes you monkey boy Wink
[quote]
If it is true, surely pulling 2-3 defenders out of the line by having just one guy lumbering around would make the AB's pratically unbeatable

you are reading that theory and it sounds good but in reality...
[quote]
the Wallabies flanker (George Smith?) can take
Lomu by Himself...

however, the pidlly Ben Tune and Larkham
would shit their panties if Lomu came charging
at them...

[quote]
i dont know guys...
hes picked pretty much a canterbury team so for them its bacically a home game at there home ground so mitchell may actuall be using hes head and trying to be clever.
but u neva know it does look dodgy with all those crusaders
[quote]
Mind you Byron might have been a bit slow at training on monday after his big night at Largered.

[quote]
Maybe Mitchell is on biggie and noticed that Byron got "mashed" at lagered

Someone call Radio Sport and let them know, cos otherwise they'll go on all day about Kelleher vs Marshall without knowing the real reason
[quote]
What, what??

WHAT???

Details...what did I miss??
[quote]
Now no Norm, replaced by Simon Maling What the fuck?
[quote]
Really thats not to Bad that should bring royce willis on to the bench then ?

What the fuck Happened to marty holla is he out as well?

George Smith is over rated anyway one hit from Richy McCraw will sort him out.

Scott Robinson at Number 8? please, Totu Kefu will only have himself to blame if he dosnt have a blinder this game.

[quote]
*still wondering about Byron*
[quote]
rugby geeks the lot of you Razz
[quote]
Diva, Byron is a friend of mine, do you want a signed picture.
If so give me your e-mail address and I will get one for you.
[quote]
Rugby is overrated shite! I hav'nt seen a good game of it since the 70's and early 80's... Bill Osborne, Stu Robertson days. The cocks that play these days would'nt know how to put together a descent running game if they tried. Hence my preference for playing league from the age of 15 to 25, after starting at union from the tender age of 6. Bloody glad I made the transition when I did. I've seen club rugby games that have been a hell of alot more entertaining than the crap the All Black tossers dish up. They're to busy bein up their own arse, what an egotistical bunch of fuckwits they are!
[quote]
Mitchell is trying to play an english style of game. What he wants is 15 guys who are good at retaining the ball, and he will play a style that suits that. What we'll see is lots of going into the tackle and laying the ball back, getting field position, then hoping the aussies make a mistake on their line and we sneak a try. That style does not suit us and will not win us the world cup. We need to use our flair to try and score try, not grinding down the opposition. Lomu doesn't fit into the plan as you want to get him out wide in a one on one position to try and score a try, but this risks losing the ball to the opposition. What will also happen is our game will become predictable and sides will figure us out very quickly.

In terms of positional changes, under the scenario above we have a good team. I agree that ralph, marshall and hewitt shouldn't be there. At centre we have 2 outstanding players and I think it is the only position where 2 world class players are competing for one spot. I would rate Umaga ahead of Robinson though. At no 8 collins should be playing, but is injured. Same with flavell at no 6. The current selections are probably the best options in that position.

I can't see the Ab's winning the world cup under mitchell, but I hope I'm wrong.
[quote]
Are u talking about Jerry collins? totally forgot about him aye yes should be a shoe in for the end of year tour.

And as for flavell if u can deflat that guys head a little then he could be in the team

that cunt needs a hiding big time he tryed to have a fight with a mate of mine about this time last year when we went leftfield for a 21st. cause he thought he was an all black he thought he owned the dance floor... sorry but that guys head is a little to big and he is not even that good.

Guys like Glen Marsh, Ducan Blakie, Marty Holha, and Jerry Collins are far better candidates for the flank postion.

[quote]
Firetruck

I LOVE Byron. At the Highlanders games in Sydney and Canberra I had a huge banner that said "Byron I want to have your babies".

ha ha ha ha ha. I wonder if he saw it.

Some other guy called Byron came up to me after the game and said he had felt like a champion all night coz I was screaming out "Go Byron ya big spunk" all night. LOL.

[quote]
Good to see Jonah Lomu and Tana Umaga back in the team. Bring on the Boks!
[quote]
they are back in the squad, if they make the starting 15 or not won't be known till later today or tomorrow morning.....
[quote]
I'll have to look out for your poster next year then.
[quote]
Th AB's are staying at the City Life Apartments on Lambton Quay/Gilmer Terrace - I saw them all jumping on their bus while I was on smoko.
[quote]
I wonder if them being brought back into the team has anything to do with the fact the test is in Wellington?
[quote]
I havent read the whole thread, no time, too long.
But fuck Lomu is shit.....dont rate the guy at all!!

Go the Crusader style defence on sat nite is all i can say!!!!!!!!
[quote]
Theres nothing wrong with Lomu, he will prove his worthiness next time he gets a start. His powerful running would have been invaluable in the Nz Vs Oz game where he could have picked up a number of the down-field kicks and ran them up at pace. Saying that, Caleb Ralph had a good game, with a heavy workload.
