A friend declines a gift

6 months ago I purchased something for my friends kid,
He didn't want it

6 months later he is asking for it.
I was upset that he didn't want my gift in the first place so we decided to keep the gift for when we have children.

How do I deal with this situation, I purchased it for his kid in the first place so do I suck it up and hand it over.
Or do I tell him no.

Who the fuck refuses a gift? What did you do for this to happen? Did the kid refuse it of did your mate? Me thinks there is more going on here.

If not, then tell him he's a fuckhead for refusing a gift you bought for his child, was your gift below his dignity? or was it creepy and you made him feel like your were trying to groom his child for something improper (like future work with National).
Did you make him feel stink cause it was something he could not afford to give to his child himself? or is he just weird?

People need to realise when an offer is made its generally only valid for the time its made.

Eg if I offer you a line at 8pm and you say nah sweet, sure as hell don't come back to me at 3am and say.. "Can I have that line now"..

Kid loved the gift.
It was in no way creepy.
Potentially it was more expensive then my mate could afford himself but we are talking about a $100 gift not $10000
No idea why he said no but I was butthurt and that butthurt stayed around for a few days.
Now I think fuck him.
But at the same time. It was bought for the child in the first place and should I really punish the child for his dad being a douche.
