About to head back overseas, been here since Christmas day. Since I've been back, had some decent nights out, but by far enjoyed the Nathan Haines gig the other night, aslo enjoyed the DJ at grand circle at new years ajax I think, liked his song selection and style and the fella before nathan Haines, good to see young Djs keepin it deep soulful and funky, good classic cuts. Heard a few of the big names in Auckland and they all seemed to play the same kinda sound, almost like a Cd, not sure if it's cause the record selection that gets down here or just DJs being un-original. My best nights as I describe were with the DJs who don't necessarily have names for themselves-yet.
The dance scene is huge here and know doubt some people are making aot of money which is good for them, just feel that there's no real vibe, and in someways I think what will be good is when the dance scene phase kinda dies out, and real heads are left.
Till next time Peace.

The real heads are always there, you just need to know where to look. California is the epitome of an 'underground' scene. London has full on handbag dancing at the major house gigs. It's sad, because the old days had lotso real - the scene here has changed so much since the turn of Milenium, maybe the vibe has gone for some people, but for others it's just beginning. It's a cycle going on all the time, even before house came about. By going to the New Yeah, you would have witnessed Nice & Urlich, a house gig that is really popular, some patrons love it and don't even know who bevan keys is. Commercialism has it's + & - eh? My 2cents

Personally I remember going to dance aprties and moaning that there weren't enuff people there, now it seems there are too many fuck you just can't win. maybe we should set up a small night for us with some of the djs who are playing what they feel.
