24 hours in Tokyo

We have a stopover in Tokyo and I want help to create an itinerary so we can see as much as possible in a short amount of time.

Should arrive at our Hotel around midday Saturday and will have until late Sunday afternoon. It's going to be July which is the hotter month.

With all that in mind - please help

I went to Tokyo for the first time last week and really enjoyed Sensoji temple in Asakusa (and surrounding souvenaire shops) and shopping in Shibuya. I wouldn't bother with Imperial Palace - it's over-rated.

If you haven't already seen Lost in Translation, you may like to get the dvd out. It will give you an idea what to expect and you may see some of the sights when you're there. That aside, it's a great film in any case.

What day are you there on Marie?

If you're there on a Sunday one thing you have to do is head to Yoyogi park in Harajuku. If you're catching a train go to Harajuku on the Yamanote Line. This is the place where (on Sundays) all the kids hang out wearning weird clothes. Some Japanese guys dreess like Elvis and rock out of Rock N Roll .... and there's amsuing stuff happening every Sunday. There is also a temple there - Meijijungumae I think.

Asakusa for the temples and souvenirs.
Metropolitan Government building in Shinjuku for the FREE viewing platform.
Shibuya for the mass of people.
Womb in Shibuya for an awesome nightclub
Harajukue for all the weird young people and shopping on Takashita Street.
