Man... is curling on all day every day or what? How did it become such a big thing at the Olympics?
Also.. anyone know much about Ice Hockey? I just saw a minute of the women's medal ceremony... There are 6 players (5 plus a goalie) in the team.. plus subs. But there were 30 players getting medals? Why do they need 5 whole squads worth of people? I know it's a tough sport but even American football teams don't show up with 50 players.
Yeah Ice Hockey take the whole American huge squad thing to a whole knew level. A team is broken down into lines which consist of the 5 out fielders and the entire line subs on and off at the same time. You have 3 main lines (maybe even 4 actually not 100%) which are for general play, then you have 2 power play lines for when the other team has a player in the penalty box, and then 2 penalty kill lines for when you have a guy in the penalty box. I'm not sure but I think there's also a couple of defensive lines for holding a lead as well. Plus you have a few reserves to fill in if people get injured. So in your main lines you have 15-20 players, plus another 5 or so penalty specialists that mix with players from the main lines to make up you power play and penalty kill lines, a reserve goalie and 3-4 other reserves.
