13" Macbook Pro

Anyone use one? General thoughts? Thinking about getting one.

Hmmmmm... See I can get one out of NYC for a damn fine deal (making use of friends in education up there) and they strike me as the sort of thing that will last years once you up RAM etc.

They're gonna be a classic mac I can tell already. So powerful in such a nice package. 8GB of ram expandable too

Got a 15" 2.66 earlier this week, with both 9400 and 9600, so awesome

Heh, I think my (crudely, barely justified) financial savings rationale for buying it in Noo Yoik might fail to stand up when you add a few grand up in there for that "roadtrip". Tempting but.

I was quietly gutted that someone else got to go to the 5th Ave store to buy it for me! Apparently at 9pm on a Tuesday night there was close to 200 people in there - seems Apple ain't feeling the recession quite so much.

A UK-based friend was looking at upgrading a few months back. Now, whilst you can special order a US keyboard in the UK (which he wanted), when he sat down to compare pricing, for the mid-range models and up it worked out better for him to pick one up in New York, using the savings on price to pay for his ticket from London to NY and back, and score the keyboard he wanted, AND a weekend in NY

USD1,100 plus a few freeby specials that I can sell. Will probably be a net of about NZD1,550 or so to me.

Are those keyboards ok?

I haven't used one since the first time they came out on a Macbook, but it was awful then.

I have the old style Macbook Pro keyboard and I love that.

I have one on my 13" MacBook and it's sweet as.

Will let you know when I get it - they are normally referenced as a specific positive in most reviews though.

I've always found them great, even only using for a brief time. Small adjustment period like with any keyboard different to what you're used to.

They look really cool. I had a play around with one my friend has. The battery charge lasts for up to 8 hours!

I don't think I can justify spending this much on the laptop tho. They retail for $2,400 here. This figure would buy me a nice plasma and hp laptop. The choice will be easy there for me...
