10k to drop on a car

This is possibly more lounge-talk cause it's pretty basic, but interested what you would buy if you had 10k to spend. Isn't much I realise but interested in possibly swapping out my A4 for something, but nothing appeals...

depends what type of car you go for? Are you after a euro or a jappa? do you prefer bigger capacity engines or smaller turbo engines? are you after speed or comfort?

I'm guessing since you have an A4 already you might want to stick with euro, how bout a late 90's VW Golf GTi?

if you know someone who can get into dealer only auctions, or someone that can import cars.. $10k will get you a 2001 Golf GTi

Sedan, hatch, coupe?

righto, this is actually one of the few things that does interest me, thought it would be a bit more than that but just gotta know the right people huh! got a few dealer contacts around the bizzo so might give it a go.

A4 is a 97 V6 auto...

I haven't seen the 2001+ golfs going for that cheap, wouldnt really expect to get a decent model for less than $13k...

98-00 face lift model looks practically identical, and you can get them up to 2.8L 20v for around the same cost as 1.8L 16v 2001.
