The new water resistant and washable Walkman W series is perfect for sports use, while the new Walkman B series showcases a sleek metallic finish with deep bass tones

Designed for today’s active lifestyles, the latest W series Walkman from Sony is the first wire-free MP3 player that resists rain splashes or the sweat of a gruelling gym session. After exercising, users can rinse under the tap – or even keep listening to the Walkman during a post-workout shower*. The latest B series offers a more intuitive user experience with booming bass that will resonate with young music lovers.

Walkman W series:
The new Walkman W250 Series is available in three sporty colours (Black, Pink and White), its light, all-in-one design eliminates the tangle of headphone wires that can slow things down when you’re working out, running or dancing. The 13.5mm EX Series headphones offer clear powerful Walkman sound plus total comfort and a secure fit during physical activity. The water resistant feature means you can exercise inside or out without having to worry about sweat or rain.

It’s easy to create the perfect soundtrack while exercising, allowing users to focus on their workout rather than fiddling with menus. Playlist support lets users pick their favourite songs in advance, ordering them to match their activity profile from warm-up to wind-down. The jog dial allows users to skip to the next folder selecting a different artist or album to change mood instantly.

Zappin technology scans through stored tracks, playing a short sample from each song to help find the right music for that moment.

If users are in a hurry to get active a quick 3-minute charge gives enough power for 90 minutes listening time. A fully charged battery offers up to 11 hours uninterrupted listening time – more than enough for that all day walking expedition.

The supplied charging stand doubles as a USB dock for a PC, allowing users to load up their Walkman with their favourite tunes before hitting the streets.

Using the supplied Content Transfer software that comes with the Walkman, it’s eas y to move music files straight from PC or iTunes library (not including DRM files) – even playlists. Users simply need to click on the file, then drag and drop into Content Transfer. Popular format support makes the Walkman W250 the ideal second digital media pl ayer, dedicated to sport.

The new Walkman W250 series comes in 2GB and will be available in New Zealand from June 2010 with an RRP of $139.95.

Walkman B series: Compact and sleek with integrated Bass Enhancer

The Walkman B series features a one touch Bass Enhancer with red power illuminator to boost bass performance on music tracks. Adding to the groove, the illuminator’s LED lights will dance and pulse with the music. Like the W series, the lipstick-sized B series also features ZAPPINTM for easy music playback, and integrates a new jog dial that enables easier toggling and music navigation.

Stylishly sleek, the new B series sports a shiny new look with a sleek metallic paint finish on its USB cap. The Quick Charge feature lets users enjoy 90 minutes of music playback with just a 3 minute charge, and the Walkman also features a long battery life of up to 18 hours with just 70 minutes of full charging.

Like its predecessor, the Walkman B series offers a wide variety of audio features, from MP3 music playback to voice and FM recording. Transferring music directly to the music player is also easily done with a simple drag-and-drop.
