The Prodigy ‘Invaders Must Die Tour’ Review
The Prodigy ‘Invaders Must Die Tour’ was a much anticipated event that many New Zealander’s were looking forward too. Held at the Trusts stadium on a Thursday night, this event was certainly one of the biggest acts to arrive on our shores for 2010. The Prodigy have established themselves as one of the most dominant, dynamic and revered electronic acts of all time.
Arriving pretty late we managed to get inside the arena very quickly. Supporting acts ‘Does it offend you?’ played before The Prodigy. The crowd was going nuts and the arena was nicely packed with not too many people towards the back and a good fit towards the front. It quickly became know why The Prodigy sell more albums than any other dance music artist in history. They let rip their biggest and craziest tracks to an absolute amping and passionate crowd. They also graced the crowd with newer tracks such as “Warrior’s Dance” which went down well. It was a little unusual as the crowd had a bit of a ‘Westie’ feel too it.
The lighting was pretty consistent throughout the night and helped increase the intensity of the music. The sound at times was too loud which distorted the sounds too much but overall the sound was at suitable levels. The bar moved reasonably quickly and offered some good brews which many people dug into. Water became a necessity as the night moved on with the temperature became more and more hot. It certainly reminded you of their early gigs at the Big Day Out in the Boiler room. Not only was the music hugely impressive but they also had an amazing stage presence, especially Keith Flint and Maxim Reality. Everyone was in good vibes and left with a grin from ear to ear. We certainly look forward to The Prodigy’s return.
