Meltdown has proven over the last 2 years that it is now firmly established as Auckland's premier all hardhouse dance party.
With six sold out gigs under it’s belt, (5 being at the infamous Space Bar), Meltdown is going from strength to strength with it’s unique brand of phat proper hardhouse. The aim behind Meltdown has always been about pushing ‘Made in New Zealand hardhouse’ and the raw sound of hardhouse itself, rhythm, funk, melody and phat basslines.
Meltdown truly delivers a memorable night, unbeatable atmosphere, massive production and a dance party experience which will leave you gasping for breath! Meltdown “Fallout” is just around the corner in early March featuring Tom Urwin, DJ and Producer, direct from the UK!
TOM URWIN (UK):
Tom got his first real taste of dance music at the young age of 15, at parties and raves where he grew up in Ireland where he heard more underground genres such as acid techno and acid trance. He picked up mixing and producing shortly after, following labels such as Stay Up Forever, Acid Test, VCF and Routemaster. Tom soon picked up a love for hard house as well, and has been following it strongly ever since. With his first vinyl release aged 17, and subsequent releases on top labels such as Toolbox, Spinball and Nosebleed, Tom has been making a lot of noise, both in the hard house scene and more recently in the techno world. Tom’s tracks are generally hard and energetic while maintaining that underground sound from which he was mostly influenced.
MANIK LIVE:
From the age of 16, Manik had a love for Hardhouse, purchasing a pair of Technics turntables at age 19, and writing and producing his own music soon after. Gaining influence from UK producers such as Paul Maddox, Dom Sweeten and Riggsy, Manik’s natural talent for DJ’ing and music production has lead him to become one of New Zealand’s most well known hard dance producers.
Manik started his own label ‘Radioactive Recordings’ in 2006, and released possibly his biggest hit to date ‘Lucid’ along with ‘Skywalker’ and ‘Feel Good’. Along the way Manik has had collaborations with some of the biggest names in Hardhouse including Ben Stevens, Adam M, Dramatik and has had a wide range of solo releases on various labels. After a successful first LIVE set, he then began promoting ‘Meltdown’ in 2008 which has gone from strength to strength and has now become one of New Zealand’s leading hard dance events.
The most recent Meltdown, ‘Quarantine’ was the launch party for Manik’s debut album, ‘Quarantine’ and was a success with a sell-out crowd at Fu & Zen with the headlining act being Manik LIVE and MC DTox. (Released on Fevah Records, Meltdown: Qaurantine: The Album is available on all the major download websites or specifically ‘www.southerncrossmusic.co.nz’ as a 17 track mix or 12 DJ friendly singles.)
