We have a quick chat with Northie from Australia before he stops down in Auckland for his performance at Ink and coherent this weekend.

Who are you?
A 20yr old dude from Sydney Australia, who has been producing dance music and DJ-ing for 6 years. I also like Sega and confectionery.

Whats the deal with Northie and NXE?
I’ve been a DJ for a few years, before i did that i grew up playing in punk bands. I’ve always wanted to return to my roots and have a live band, i write alot of pop-punk influenced music on the side. So over the last year i’ve transformed “Northie” into the ideal live electronic/powerpop cross over artist I’ve wanted to for a long time, then released my debut radio EP “Lost My Mind” (which got some itunes charting over here, top 50 myspace artist charting, major radio play and sold out gigs with the live band!).

However I still wanted to continue making underground club music, but doing both under Northie was confusing two types of fanbase, so I am launching “NXE” as a fresh-start alias for all my future club productions. So if you’re a lover of Northie’s past tunage, get onto NXE ASAP! And don’t forget to check out the Northie EP anyway, it’s pretty fresh!!

What releases have you got coming up?
Under NXE I have a few originals a remixes coming out on labels such as Dandy Kidz (USA), Sweat It Out (AUS), Cental Station (AUS) and a collab with New Zealand’s party-monster Dan Aux (who is pretty much the reason you guys know of me!) due out on Tommie Sunshine’s label Brooklyn Fire (USA)!

What do you remember from your last time in Auckland?
The most amazing club crowd I’ve ever played to! (no joke). So I have high party standards for you guys this time, let’s raise that bar!

Why do you chose not to drink?
A few reasons. I never got into drinking in younger years like most teens do, I never acquired a taste for it, I have plenty of fun without the need for it (love being social), and a big reason Is i’m a Christian. Gotta keep my game on lock for the big man. But to look at it from an artist’s perspective – I like to be in total control, (not saying people who drink don’t) but there’s a bigger risk of letting my priorities as a career minded individual get jumbled up in the long run if I let things like alcohol (or drugs) become a bigger part of my work. Life is off the chain for me as it is, i love it and wouldn’t have it any other way.

Do you think Country music is becoming too commercial and is Dubstep a mind control tool designed by the US government?
Dubstep is tool used for freedom AGAINST the US government and the rest of the globalist NWO agenda, and some Country Music is dope! (My Dad’s a country muso)... bias!

What can we expect from your set @ Ink&Coherant this Saturday?
Just as much energy, rediculous-melt-your-mind tunes and more secret weapons than you heard last time I was in Auckland!
+ new Northie, new NXE, and of course classic Northie!
