George FM, enjoyed on 96.8FM in Auckland for more than a decade, is moving frequency to 96.6FM. From July 7th 2010, do adjust that dial and find us at our cosy new home 2 points down the dial on 96.6.
The compulsory move happens as part of a government strategy to more evenly space the broadcasts on the FM bandwidth.
Please tell your friends, because we’ve got a lot of listeners to move – more than we’ve ever had! George celebrated an all time high in audience numbers this year, crossing the 50,000 weekly listeners mark for the first time in the latest ratings.
“Some say that a move is a good as a change – surely it follows that a move and a change are better than anything? July will be an exciting time as we do both, I can’t wait!”; said Ande Macpherson, General Manager of George FM.
In other movements, there is a new daytime DJ line-up for the Winter Season on the new frequency. George Breakfast with Nick D continues in fine fashion; the irrepressible Clarke Gayford has taken the mantle of Selectah! host from 12-2pm weekdays; DJ Karn Hall is now on Monday to Thursday from 2-4pm and Dean Campbell heads up the Drive show, also Monday to Thursday. Plus old friends like Philippa, Bevan Keys, Soane and Roger Perry spin the tunes during the mid mornings (10am-midday) slot.
Then ‘Fridays Are Different’ introduces a whole day dedicated to something that George believes very strongly in – the three day weekend. So Friday features a banging lineup of specialist DJs like Sam Hill, Dick Johnson and Tim Phin.
So rest assured that while the frequency changes, the tunes keep on cranking!
George FM. On 96.6FM from July 7th. Move with us!
